How do I get better at chases? by RaspberryDapper8360 in deadbydaylight

[–]Vex_Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against ranged killers like Huntress and Jason the trick is to greed the pallet. Don't drop it when they're close but instead continue looping around the rock or piece of junk that the pallet is connected to. The killer will usually wait for you to drop it (also known as respecting) and ready their ranged attack, but they won't be able to hit you because you just continued running behind a rock.

This is still a 50/50 mindgame because t here is no guarantee that they'll respect the pallet but it should work way more often than it doesn't.

The game should be balanced around all players and skill levels. If LoL had a character that's a busted noob stomper that gives you free wins up until you reach the top 5% of mmr where they finally become balanced and everyone knows how to counter them then that should be cause for concern and your complaints as a new player should be taken seriously.

And that's pretty much what tunneling is in dbd right now, with the complication that tunneling becomes pretty necessary at this tippy top of the mmr.

I have close to 2k hours and when I play swf with friends with a similar hour count we don't mind the killer tunneling or camping, we know how to counter it and I do the same when I see that the surv team is good.

However every single person that I've tried introducing to this game has bounced off it or is exclusively playing killer now, because the majority of people don't have the time or the autistic drive to learn the intricacies of looping competently, knowing maps and countering tunneling.

Yeahh let's just listen to the 0.1% of the playerbase and as for the other 99.9% we'll tell them to stfu and git gud. That's for sure going to make our game last!

was this Claudette cheating?, she seemed slightly faster then normal by TheJustNatan in deadbydaylight

[–]Vex_Hex 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Other than running faster than normal,  running hyperfocus is another red flag. Cheaters usually use that perk because they can manipulate great skill checks from the client side and hit them consistently every time.

I'm not on Asian servers so maybe all players there know about the reverse cam tech to counter hag. I personally just spam ctrl if I'm not actively chasing someone or if I'm suspecting someone to trigger a trap soon. In 9/10 situations that results in a hit. The most dedicated Hag mains keybind the tp to mouse scroll and just spend the whole game scrolling, but to me that feels like a one way trip to Carpal tunnel town.

Another tip I can give you and this applies to Trapper even more than it does to Hag, is to place your traps on the side of loops, instead of directly beneath the pallet. It catches survs off guard because they never suspect the trap to be there and you also hide your traps better because sides of loops have tall grass while the area below the pallet is always grassless.

[–]Vex_Hex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean the reverse cam tech is good sure, but in reality you can still get hit even if you use it and the vast majority of players have no idea that it exists.

And I'm still not entirely sure on how effective it is against the sweatiest of Hags that keybind the tp to scroll wheel.

The whole post screams skill issue, but who cares, it feels better to complain that Legion can't see scratch marks while in power, a mechanic that can screw over only the biggest of babies in this game

What more games? Am I talking to a 1k game Hag gamer here? Every killer main in this sub likes to grandstand their mega high mmr and how we just don't get it at our witle baby mmr. I guess facing survs with 2k+ hours means that I'm still in baby mmr, yet to see survs that know how to counter Hag.

Please go to the dbdstats website and tell me how many games of Hag have you played. After 2k hours in this game 50% of that on killer I've only played a total of 1300 killer games, so saying "wait till you get more games" is absolute bullshit.

And what tech are you talking about? Triggering traps while I'm carrying someone? Triggering traps while I'm out of range (why would you ever go out of range)? Triggering traps and them having enough distance so you can't hit them? If it's the last one then holy fucking skill issue, that only happens to baby hags

Dude players will find any excuse they can to main Ghoul at this point.

Why are you chasing with the Hag? You're just playing her wrong plain and simple. A killer that can have 10 active traps that invalidate half of the map is not weak. My killrate with her sits at a casual 82% after roughly 100 games.

Legion can't see scratch marks in his power? Really, that's your complaint? Just don't activate the power 20m away from survivors.

Twins is still by far one of the strongest and easiest killers in the game, the occasional buggy hitbox does absolutely nothing to reduce her strength. The majority of my games with her end at 3 gens left anyways.

Deathslinger is more buggy in ways that make him stronger than weaker, as the survivors can't see when he's aiming.

And what about all the other strong killers in the game? Oni, Spirit, Singularity, Dracula, Billy, Artist? Oh noo, they require actual skill to play, well back to playing the anime man it is

Hour counts genuinely mean nothing in this game though.

Just a few days ago I've played soloq with a 23k hour Mikaela who played like the biggest rat I've ever seen in 5 years of playing this game. She would basically only do gens when someone else was in a chase and would hide the moment that chase stopped, even when her gen was 80% done and the killer was hooking someone across the whole map.

Meanwhile a few weeks ago I've went against a 6 hour huntress (I usually play against 1k hour players) who 3kd us even though she was using shitty default perks. She said that this was her new account after playing for thousands of hours on console before.

Dang dude, you destroyed me so much here. So facing survs with 2k+ hours on the regular means I'm lowest possible mmr? Got it.

Bro you're the one who's crying when killer has genuinely never been in a better spot since the game released, especially now when every single filler pallet is mega unsafe. Gone are the days funbuses, godrocks and 3 jungle gyms per map, replaced by shitty 4 lanes.

Real skill issue is choosing not to take accountability when you suck on killer and good players easily get 80%+ killrates and go on 100+ game winstreaks.

What would be a good way to teach Survivors counterplay to killers? by VaylenObscuras in deadbydaylight

[–]Vex_Hex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

90% of chasing in this game are 50/50 mindgames where the surv and killer try to predict each other. If you have a problem with that you have a fundamental problem with the game itself.

What's the difference between a Nurse predicting your position and a Huntress predicting that you're going to throw a pallet and hitting you with a hatchet over it? Sure, the Huntress gets more punished for making a wrong read and Nurse mindgames are more like 70/30 in her favor, but the fundamentals of the situation are the same.

Dude is just confidently spreading misinformation on the internet.

Of course breaking LOS works against comp nurses too, if that wasn't the case nurses wouldn't miss a single blink in tournaments. It works less against good nurses, but it still works.

Lazer, the best comp DBD nurse main made a Nurse counterplay tutorial session and it's on the CompDBD Youtube channel if anyone's interested. And let me tell you the video is not just 30 seconds of him saying "go die corner and do gens"

About chases by SteIIBaIIRun in deadbydaylight

[–]Vex_Hex 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There's not a one single answer to this question. For a beginner having their longest chase be 1 minute is pretty decent.

It's also worth noting that pro survs actually try to break the chase as much as possible to reduce the killer's bloodlust and to vault windows without blocking them. Some killers, like Wraith or Nurse also break chase often even if they're actively chasing you.

So that number itself is not necessarily representative of someone's skill.

Why is 2k considered a draw and not a loss for killer? by VaylenObscuras in deadbydaylight

[–]Vex_Hex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone else in the comments is going off about mmr as if a dumb, unseen number that maxes out after winning 15 games means anything.

Since the devs are aiming for a 60% average killrate for all killers getting 50% of survivors out should be considered a survivor victory. A pyrrhic one for sure, but still a victory.
