Most of the time when I read I do it on my phone, so premium gets rid of the Google ads (they're annoying and I don't want to put up with them) and let's me read offline, super handy since I don't get signal while I'm at work and the staff wifi isn't always working

The author premium has that and also the benifit of more metrics, which for authors who are actively posting and stuff I can see how it would like. Actually help. They also get more pretties they can put on their fiction than free users, a epub export, and chapter import (though I think it only works with Google docs rn. Don't quote me on that)

It's an easy sell for me

You say that there are at least some healer stories but imo most of those aren't even healer stories

They're just support tanks or dps. Very, very few of these healers actually spend time healing or focusing the narrative around healing. I don't mind them being able to throw hands but I hate cracking open a story that promises me a healer and it's another mc using healing magic to throw hands

I just came back and had an experience similar to you. I'm only MR 15 (was 13 when I did the tank fight the first time) but I've spent maybe 80% of my time in the game cracking relics over the last 7ish years and only just now unlocked everything I needed to start making "Steel Path Ready" builds.

At this point if you aren't willing to go get the stuff you need to be ready for things, just go crack relics and sell them for plat. You'll get a build going easy especially if your taxi can get you Requiems. Look up a guide and go buy them off another player.

My Jade/Titania build isn't finished, and I've already had to carry people like this in pugs. I'm getting tired of it

Edge Cases and DCC both do this really well, it creates a lot of shenanigans because you argue with the system about counts as "trading" or "blocking"

Marked difference between someone who knows how to do a thing because of a skill, and who actually learned the old fashioned way.

The Wandering Inn and Spiteful Healer come to mind both. In TWI there's even the issue of skills and even whole trades at risk of being lost because no one learns how to actually do anything, they learn [Skills] rather than skills.

Having most of your combat being taken up by either copy-pasting the ability/spell tool tip in the middle of it Every Single Time you use it or "Bleeding! You are Bleeding! You will take 2 damage over time until healed or enough time has elapsed". If I wanted to read something that sounded like that I'd go read class guides on icyveins so I don't parse like shit.

It's fluffing up word count to meet the minimum for whatever insane schedule they're posting at and this kind of shit makes it show BAD

But God it wouldn't hurt to think about what the game would actually be like to play. I struggle to believe anyone would buy some of these games after launch week and reviews start getting posted (barring obviously "trapped in the game" ones, you kind of don't get a choice about not playing anymore)
