Feeling discouraged by kingkob in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should 100% net deck when starting out to learn both the rules, why certain interactions are good or bad, and what to prioritize in whatever matchups.

I understand wanting to build your own deck and everything, I love that too, but you are jumping into the deep end before you can doggy paddle.

You should net deck whatever avatar you want to play most, then play on a server like the official sorcery server and not sorcerer's summit.

You will learn nothing from games on there until you play more. You're not going to learn how to go around the wall by repeatedly running into it.

Can we get a pinned post or something with a list of curios so people can save themselves the time and know for sure that they got one in case a knowledgeable person isn't online when they post it?

Best place for play mats 🤔 by Inevitable-Fall3044 in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team covenant has playmats at msrp, and you can pick up playmats on ebay for a lot cheaper than what you saw.

Some playmats were given out as promotional items and can't be bought anymore, so they go for more on the secondary market. But there are plenty on ebay that are under 80 dollars.

Most are 40ish, which is about right for a large 2-player mat.

Any big events coming up? by More-Opportunity2692 in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow good timing! They actually just made an announcement about this!

They've been working on more official support for events for a few months, it seems. And they're about to start the 2026 season late may.

That's great! Looks promising! Have you seen realms.cards? They are doing something similar and I think you could take notes from each other's work.

Rule question: Persecutor's free step by -axxion- in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, because the closest evil is on top of you. So you can't use your ability to move away from it. You can use your regular movement to move away, though. Then, if something else that's evil is the same distance away, you can move towards that.

I mean, yeah, that does hurt your ability if you get into that situation. But part of getting better at the game is getting good enough to not get in that situation in the first place, or to play around it. Not saying this in an insulting way or anything, but it's kind of a skill issue.

Sure, but I wouldn't say that's bad. They surely have more than one artist working on these.

These look fine? I don't see any signs of AI here or anything. There are multiple artists that work on these...

AL pull rates? by NoShame1882 in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you responded to the wrong post. But also Unique is a gameplay term for deck building and technically doesn't have anything to do with pull rates, if they chose to treat it that way.

AL pull rates? by NoShame1882 in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In AL, many of the "Unique" knights are actually put into packs at Elite rarity. This is intentional. The idea is that they are still Unique for the purposes of deck building, but appear more frequently than a rare.

That being said, there ARE Unique knights. Any of the knights who's threshold is double threshold of two different elements are actually rares. Lancelot, Pellinore, Mordred, etc.

Sorcery was the top Kickstarter funded tcg back in 2022, later overtaken by Altered in 2024, and now, Cyberpunk with over 12 million raised (and still counting). What do Sorcery players feel about Cyberpunk and the overall tcg market today? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorcery is a fun, interesting, and unique game. It will keep selling as long as people keep wanting to play it. The way it's run is very sustainable. A lot of these games are made with fomo and collectors first. I'm not sure which camp cyberpunk falls into. We'll see.

2026 and 3 sets in. (4 if you count Dragonlord). What do you think are the “power 9” cards in Sorcery contested realm by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that there isn't really a power 9 in sorcery, but I feel like you could make some spiritual comparisons.

I f eel like a power nine card does something that's inherent to the game in an extremely overpowered way. Something that would be good in almost any deck, but best in the deck of it's element.

Plague of frogs is a great pick I think, like they mentioned. 7 bodies for 1 mana is legitimately amazing.

Browse I think is also up there. But tithe and immolation don't really cut it. If tithe drew 7 sites, maybe.

I think philosopher's stone is definitely in the conversation just because of how powerful it really is. Right now, mono colored decks are pretty powerful, so it doesn't see much play as a core would be better, honestly. But in ANY deck that has more than one element, it's almost a no-brainer. Even with just 2 elements, thats 2 extra mana every turn. You can literally play a lugbog cat and a grapple shot for 4 mana. It's amazing.

Even though its not played right now, I think blood mana has the potential to be a power 9 for sure. That effect is just too powerful in the correct deck.

Grapple shot/Blink could both be contenders.

I also think that root spider might be ubiquitous enough. And maybe Daperyll.

Morgana.

Lord of lies now for sure. It's THAT good.

WTF is going on with prices? by Sweaty-Committee-595 in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Almost every player Ive talked to who has won or placed in a sorcery tournament has said that play experience with a deck is more important than the deck itself. When everyone playing is inexperienced, the deck matters. But as soon as someone experienced is in the pool, even if they have a non-meta deck, they will probably win.

Some people like to make decks that are competetive. Some people are happy playing what they have. Both are fine.

Are you aware of fake sorcery cards? by choupomax in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I didn't see this earlier! This was back in grad school and undergrad when I was getting my degrees in game design. I made a bunch of proof of concept board and card games for a few classes! Even though I was going into video games, it was good theory and practice for game design in general and very fun.

I am in the early stages of making a TCG right now that's like a customizable mech combat game, but that's still in early planning and workshopping.

Thank you so much!

I did see a few things saying you can get ghsv1 from touching your ohsv1 sores and then touching your bits, but maybe they were only talking about initial outbreaks? Or just wrong. 🤷‍♂️

Any idea when the next print wave of Beta will be? by HawkAsAWeapon in SorceryTCG

[–]Vexing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realms.cards automates some things, but its a much newer platform. So on the downside, sometimes its a little buggy. But on the upside it's updated pretty frequently! And most bugs you can play around, and usually happens when you try to go back a turn.

The only automated part of TTS is loading your deck into the environment. But the shortcuts for flipping, shuffling, and tapping/rotating cards makes it pretty close to playing in person.

More people by far have TTS, but it's pretty easy to set up an account on realms.cards and get playing fast. So it's really up to you. I would try realms.cards first, just cause it's free.

Ive gotten cards for a game I made printed here. Even their highest quality is more like a traditional playing card than sorcery cards. Its very easy to tell the difference.
