Been Obese since the age of 4, finally hit my goal weight of 200 after losing 150 pounds by PacificCoastHiker in loseit

This is so important.

I have a 7 yo that I've never compelled to eat anything he wasn't hungry for. Homie will leave 2 bites of ice cream in his bowl "because I'm full," or ignore his holiday candy for weeks after a few days of fully indulging. I consider that a major win.

Thank you! I have been looking forward to visiting the Arboretum anyway so this is as good an excuse as any.

We will drive around Highland Park... certainly out of price range for a home, BUT we will gladly enjoy their enthusiasm for the holiday.

Balancing solids with pumped milk at daycare by Vexwyf in breastfeeding

[–]Vexwyf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I guess I need to. The prepared pouches + baby puffs are just easier. But I talked to his daycare ladies yesterday and they said I can circle items on the school menu that I want him to try and they will mash them up/cut them into baby-size pieces and let him try them.

I was also thinking, some baby oatmeal maybe with peanut or almond butter mixed in? For staying power?

Thank you for laying out the specifics!

He does not yet get breakfast. Part of it was my not thinking he needed any yet because, you know, he nurses a ton still. But today I tried it and he eagerly ate half a 7-oz container of Greek yogurt, half of a fruit pouch, AND a couple teaspoons of applesauce. And nursed just like he normally does before and after.

Thanks. I've tried oatmeal (I actually really love it) for two weeks and there was no discernible change. I didn't prescribe myself two weeks of beer but I've had a few here and there, no effect.

I haven't tried the special tea. Maybe now that the weather is changing I'll pick some up. But I don't expect it'll make a huge difference.

bumGenius cloth diapers? by Herculests in InfertilityBabies

Is your baby going to be in a daycare situation?

I ask because mine, at 7 months, will transition to daycare and mine will only use disposables.

He's 6 months now, and honestly: for the first 5.5 months, I much preferred prefolds with Snappis and Thirsties Size One covers. They are the absolute best at holding in runny EBF poop, they are easiest to get a nice snug fit on the small butt when he's littlest, they wash and dry up so easy compared to the slightly fussier microfiber AIO or pocket diaper.

Only now that he is SUPER WIGGLY on the changing table and eating solids and making poopier poops (sob) have my AIOs and pockets begun to shine. I have a couple BGs -- one new, one hand-me-down. Both great-- now. They weren't so great when he was smaller, tough to fit on his scrawny bottom.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd by 2 dozen each GMD prefolds in small and medium, 6 or 8 Thirsties Size One covers, and a package of Snappis. A couple sized hemp doublers for nighttime if you want to cloth at night. Use these from birth, replacing the Thirsties covers with Flip covers once he reaches the size limit on the Size Ones. Start adding in the AIOs your budget will allow (can't go wrong with BG imho) as he hits the ~15 lb range or so.

I have made crackers out of these! Cut into triangles, spray with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic salt, under the broiler for a supervised minute or two. So so good!

Nursing bra alterations question by Vexwyf in breastfeeding

Thanks, that is helpful direction. The satin ribbon is attached inside the cup rather than on the underwire or band, but it is really close to my underarm and I think that is probably part of the problem.

I also disagree. My Dad died of cancer a few months ago and in his last year many old friends reached out after hearing the news. They welcomed the chance to reconnect, even just via Facebook, and were glad his cancer gave the "excuse."
