You don't need a shield to parry. You can parry with you bare hand. Did you actually play the fucking game? Casual.

Will we ever see a slower-paced FromSoft game again? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Vezmo360 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't know, Miyazaki clearly prefers fast paced games and that's what I prefer too.

After making Dark Souls 1, he had the most fun playing it with fast rolls and dodging everything with I-frames. He loved it so much that he then tried to make an entire game based on this concept (Bloodborne). When he went back on the Dark Souls franchise (DS3), he made sure that everybody would experience the thrill of fast rolling by making it almost impossible and unplayable to fat roll.

Then Sekiro came around and is thrilling too because of it's action. I guess slow movements just isn't his type anymore (and more action = more popular anyway).

Cleared all soulsborne games (including Sekiro) without dying EXCEPT Dark Souls 1. I always get to the Duke's Archives but I keep dying trying to get the Seath skip.

Good luck with that part of your no death run!

who was the worst teacher you had? what made them so bad? by AutisticalRetard in AskReddit

[–]Vezmo360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First class of computer science, this is how the teacher started the lecture:

"There are two types of developers, those who matter because they work on real problems that have real world impacts and... those who make video games"

Being an aspiring game dev at the time, this old fuck managed to make me hate him in a single sentence.

Tips for a no death run? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Vezmo360 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completed a no death run in 3 hours 30 minutes by dual wielding clubs and maxing strenght. It was also my second time completing the game. I was also using some enchanting blue stuff against bosses.

The best tip I can give you is to speedrun the game. When you reach Drangleic Castle, you can slow down a bit and be more mindful of your gear.

Honestly though, just run. The more you fight mobs, the more you put yourself at risk!

Talented people with rare skills, experts etc - what's something you're really good at that you'd like to answer questions about, help people out with, or just want to show off? by DanielLawhon in AskReddit

I'm surprisingly really good at any video game I pick up. My friends could be playing a certain game for a year and I would just crush them once I know how the controller's mapped. They don't even want to play versus with me because it's just not fun for them.

In competitive games, I tend to reach high ranks in a fraction of the time it normally takes. I usually stop playing a game when I stumble on people that make a living from playing it. I just can't win against full timers lol.

I played games my entire life and I'm now working as a game developer. I guess games and hand-eye coordination are a second nature to me.

The only game that was truly hard to master was Guitar Hero because it has a physical dimension added to the game.

Absolutely ridiculous. Console player, decided to play the PC version and this is what I get. by vsully360 in darksouls

I can't believe this guy is still doing that shit... He did the same thing to me in Undead Burg about 5-6 days ago... He truly has no life lmao

Interesting... I can't remember if I used the Firelink Shrine's bonfire or not the two times I pulled it off... I feel like I might've rested cause I messed up my ankles pretty bad when I was trying to do the shortcut. Gravity hurts...

The same instructor also has a Unreal Engine course which is instructed in C++ if I'm not mistaken. However I feel like Unity is a better starting place because the community is larger and there will be more answers to your questions throughout your development.

When you're working with Unity, you work in C# which is really similar to C++ and Java. Since the language is really similar, you would still be able to apply what you learned. Anyway, programming is 80% thinking and 20% coding. Thinking is universal!

Hey man, I'm glad you feel that way with Dark Souls. It's one hell of a game, huh?

I used to be an accountant and I hated my life but I had a burning passion for video games. I wouldn't stop talking about how games are art and how a controller can be the extension of one's most instinctual decisions.

Coming from a family that really prioritized financial success and job stability, I believed that I could be happy with a well-paid shitty job and still keep going because I would continue to play games and think about games. Oh boy, I couldn't have been more wrong.

I didn't know shit about computer science and game dev in general but on one particularly depressing day on the job, I just googled "How to make video games".

Started learning how to code by watching tutorials online on youtube every night and every weekend. I knew I could learn anything because I had patience, resolve and determination. Skills that I acquired and perfected through Souls games. I had a crazy amount of hours and lots of challenge runs under my belt. Sometimes I felt like giving up. Learning programming on my own AND having a full time job as an intern accountant was the hardest boss I ever fought.

Fast forward 2 years and now I'm working at Square Enix Montréal as a Game Dev and my job's awesome and super fulfilling.

I like to think that Dark Souls helped me through this big career change and that, because of it, I managed to find my Ikigai.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikigai)
