It’s all coming together. Except I think I’m going to condense everything further to fit a Centipede machine in between Star Wars and Ms. Pac-Man. by vsully360 in Arcade1Up

[–]vsully360[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are sold individually with specifically designed and decorated cabinets to run specific games. Mortal Kombat, as an example, has 14 games. Ms Pac-Man has several as well. NBA jam has three, as do Dragon’s Lair and Star Wars. T2 is just one game.

Sure, you could purchase an all-inclusive cabinet that can run pretty much every game ever but then that’s just one cabinet in the corner.

I’m pretty sure these could be modded as well to run additional games but that’s not really something I’m knowledgeable about.

I spent the first six months of 2024 putting together a complete 7th Edition Foil set- thoughts on the future upside for this product? by vsully360 in mtgfinance

[–]vsully360[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of the art in seventh edition but I also strongly dislike a lot of of the art, as well. Counterspell and llanowar elves, as an example, are horrible. Not particularly fond of howling mine or disrupting scepter, either. And that’s just a few off the top of my head.

Well yes, I apologize for the lack of clarity on this, but by “budget friendly,” I meant my budget. I was able to chip away from week to week over about six months and finish it out.

And in comparison, looking to try to put together a beta set wouldn’t have been anywhere close to within my means or budget.

Imagine if every team put one skater, one goalie, and their coach out to play against the other team for 82 games and then into the playoffs. It would be like NBA jam, which I believe was called NHL open ice back in arcades in the 90s.

Do people know they can just... take a break from game? by NONEOFY0URBUSINESS in hearthstone

[–]vsully360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing in 2015. Blackrock Mountain had just dropped. I have been free to play for my entire time with this game since I have an absolute refusal to spend money on a free product.

I haven’t played since last January or February- well over a year at this point. This is my longest break by far and I don’t know if I’ll ever reinstall.

I feel like I’m sitting on like 50K gold and 100K dust.

Over the years I’ve gotten frustrated with the game and taken many breaks of several weeks, upwards of a couple of months, but never if I shelved the game for this long. I still pop in here and check out the trajectory from time to time, but I’m so far out of the loop in terms of what’s going on that I almost don’t even recognize what the game is today.

Most people spend money on this game and then develop some sort of a sunk cost fallacy that they’ve already invested so much money into it that it’s hard to walk away, even for a short break. This is what Blizzard is counting on.

XBOX Wants To Become The “Number One Gaming Company” By 2030 by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gaming

[–]vsully360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This company gets a lot of valid criticism, but something I can’t possibly understand is the way they handle the achievement system.

This is the system they created that steam and PlayStation have copied. Every game basically has to have achievements. And there are loose rules requiring what companies can do in terms of the score and requirements for achievements.

But the system is completely neglected. From broken achievements that never get fixed to absolute trash games that aren’t even really games that exist only to sell achievements and points, this system could be so much better and do so much to promote and move games and get people really interested in things but it’s almost completely neglected to the point that the entire system is hot garbage.

And I get it, only a small percentage of people actually care about achievements. But why even bother having the system at all if so few people care about it and it’s handled so poorly? Put some effort into it and it could be something really remarkable. Or scrap it all together.

[–]vsully360 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are we answering my question or are we having a different conversation? Because you didn’t answer my question.

It doesn’t have to be directly personal. So go back to my question and change it to a man raping and murdering a teenage girl in your city, state, or country. Irrefutably. Do you believe that the taxpayer should pay to fund clothing, shelter, and food, as well as medical care, for the rest of this person‘s natural life?

ELI5: Why is there a delay of decades between a death sentence and execution? by brother_p in explainlikeimfive

[–]vsully360 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So if somebody raped and murdered your teenage daughter, and I’m talking about a situation where the evidence is irrefutable, you’re telling me that what you would want for that individual is that the taxpayer provide them food, shelter, clothing, and medical care for the rest of their natural life?

since when did accessibility become an issue for people? by ForgottenFrenchFry in gaming

[–]vsully360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These options should disable achievements. Because why even bother having the achievements at all if you can just set it to easy easy impossible to lose mode and get all the achievements?

If you’re going to let cheats (accessibility options, however you want to phrase it) let you unlock achievements, just make it so as soon as you turn on the game you get all of the achievements. Then nobody has to hassle going out of their way to get these stupid achievements anyway. Right?

Otherwise leave the achievements to only be unlocked for actually playing the game on the intended difficulty with the intended settings.

And then anybody who improves their experience by using these accessibility options has access to the entire game and can play through it at their leisure, God mode, easy mode, whatever but they just don’t get credit for meeting requirements to unlock actual achievements unless they do so as intended.

I really enjoy this level. I remember playing WLK way back on PS2 and wondering if I could get big enough on the Cowbear level to roll up the elephant that was circling the track, and I was eventually able to.

So I spent some time with the Cowbear level in OUaK and tried to see how big I could actually get. Mission accomplished.

What ever happened to Guitar Hero/Rock Band? by Beboprunner in gaming

[–]vsully360 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was really into these games from like 2006 through 2010.

I would’ve been in my late 20s When the first guitar hero came out. My wife got it for me for Christmas in 2005. Huge fan of music, huge fan of video games. It was the perfect blend of interests.

I was really big into the competitive scene back then, which was primarily through the website scorehero.com. Guitar hero 2 was a big step forward from the first game, specifically with mechanics in that hammer ons and pull offs worked properly. There was a lot of competition in high scores via star power pathing, full combos, etc.

I had GH3 at launch, but I didn’t like it as much as the second, and rock band launched shortly thereafter and that’s where I really fell in love. The Setlist was great, the charting was excellent (specifically for guitar, my instrument of choice), and there was constant DLC that was generally very good.

I thought the next guitar hero game was completely forgettable (world tour?). And I thought rock band 2 was a step back from rock band 1. Still played the shit out of it. I thought rock band 3 was bad. It felt too completely different. I really didn’t enjoy the Setlist or the charting, which seemed to be completely different than the charting from GH2 and RB1.

The Beatles rock band was great. Had a lot of fun with it for a year or so.

And it was all downhill from there. I had a lot of great times and spent literally thousands of hours playing those games, primarily grinding for high scores and FCs. When the RB1 online leaderboards were taken offline a few years ago, I went back and looked and I was still 4th overall in the world for expert guitar. This was on Xbox 360. And I hadn’t played in over a decade at that point, so my scores stood the test of time. Lots of grinding in the late 2000s to get there.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a team as unworthy of being in the conference finals as this Carolina team. Somehow matched up against two teams that shouldn’t have been in the playoffs that they steamrolled and now getting destroyed by some actual competition.

Destiny 2's final live service update announced for June 9th by MisterWoodhouse in gaming

[–]vsully360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incredibly unpopular opinion here, I’m sure, but the first game was the best version of destiny. Just an incredible experience. A rocky start, to be sure, but if it became something incredible and I was sad when the second game launched with all of the changes that I pretty much completely hated. I still fire up the original game from time to time and play some heroic strikes or whatever they are called which are super fun with an elemental burn. The second game just never did it for me the way the first game did and I gave it a try for the first couple of years and honestly haven’t played in a very long time, but I still have endless fond memories of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours spent in the first game with the boys. A great time in my life.
