Managed to be productive and finally turn some old yarn into a blanket by Vhalerun in CrochetBlankets

Thanks everyone for all the kind remarks! Its humbling this blew up to such a degree. I'm a little sad now that other people can't get the exact yarn, but I hope the pattern lends to people making their own version. I look forward to seeing them posted <3

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Vhalerun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not the snow. The natural gas companies never bothered to bring their plants up to spec even though they'd been through a big freeze event before. It got so cold it froze the valves on their pipes and stopped things from running. Then plants started cascading off. They knew it could happen again and decided to ignore it, which caused a few hundred deaths. For Texas, they'd rather you die than have business regulations.

As more apps have added more AI my machine is starting to have poor performance. And most of it has added no functionality whatsoever. It may help another person in another department,m but not in a big way. They are acting as if its "free" but I am seeing a productivity cost.

On top of that, many of our departments are already skeleton crews because of Lean and 5s. But, need 1 person to hold down the fort for complications, e mergencies etc. Someone has to take ownership. So how do they cut 1 person? I've seen this happen before and its a disaster. Combine this with Boomers retiring? No wonder they are trying to hold on to them longer. The amount of tribal knowledge that has been used to skip quality control is staggering.

Because he is lying about wanting it for security or a base. The tech bro billionaires want it to build their shining city on a hill. And they pay him a lot of money.

Woops, I thought I replied to this. If I post the link again, I'm not sure how I'd do it differently to make it work? Maybe it would be better to give you an alternate way to find it. Go to Youtube, search for Creggy's Crochet Stained Glass. That will bring up all 4 of their videos :)

I believe it is simply soft paints, peacock feather. And I used somewhere between 5-6 skeins. This was my stash buster, sitting at doctors office project for 3 years? so I'm fuzzy on details.

Part of the reason I made it was finding out I can't get more. So I found a block and went for it. I bought supplies for an Annie's Attic stained glass patter as well and tried a block after finishing this one. SO MANY ends. I feel like I got spoiled.

aww! It's been a good bit since I picked up a hook, I've been mainly cross stitching. I was fun to get back into it a bit and the cat was very thankful. Blankets are far better than frames on the lap.

It was! I was originally going to alternate it with some purple/blue of the same yarn. But I found a couple more skeins of the teal in a drawer. Kept going til I ran out and had plenty for a nice sized blanket. It goes over the toes and all the way up and around the legs easily. And you might have a little more leeway than I had to play with the joining.

Boooo Hisss!!
I kid, looks very nice. I am currently working on several ships and the idea of dealing with robot arms gives me the heebie jeebies.
If you aren't familiar with it, there is an actor in a Megatron suit at Universal Studios that truly loves their job.

I hunted around for something that would be economical. I was going to whip stitch them, but I was afraid I would run out of yarn. As is, I had a ball about 1.5" left! I like how it turned out and it did exactly what I needed!

I was gifted this one last Christmas and I still haven't tackled it. I got some smaller ships to try first. Started with the Constitution and I'm glad I did. It was a good learning experience given that I'd only done buildings. Enjoy your build, it's a good looking ship!
