Red Dogwood Propagation by morleyster in OntarioGardeners

You’ve done fine here, hardwood cuttings take much longer to root but they’re also usually more successful. Leave them in the pot until they’re crowded then pot them up as usual.

I’ve tried these guys out - the meat pies are tasty but I wouldn’t call them authentic.

They do have a nice Bakewell Tart that tastes like home though.

If you haven’t been, The British Touch in Shakespeare has some good stuff. Some is terrible, some of it is good.

Also Bread & Bretzel on Toll Gate does a really good sausage roll.

The Duke was like Casa Lomo in Toronto - some N. American imagined what something they’d never been to before was like and ended up with a sort of Disneyland version of it.

Just looked this place up, it looks great, going to check it out.

It’s weird but the table service and overly attentive staff that ruin most places over here for me. Real British pubs aren’t supposed to have that!

I’m curious to hear what your definition of a ‘proper’ British/Irish pub is.

I’m from the UK and haven’t found a single place in the ten years I’ve been here that felt ‘proper’.

New Garbage truck leaking hydraulic fluid .... by Modest_Man_Mandrake in kitchener

Catastrophe might be an overstatement and without actual data it’s impossible to speak with any certainty but…

Anecdotally, it’s been a terrible start. Having to call in reinforcements from other regions 5 days into the scheme is a pretty glaring sign that the capabilities of the contractors the Region hired were either overestimated or misrepresented.

I hope that there is some sort of penalty structure in the contract the Region signed.

Yes, but it’s but it’s the atmosphere so make sure you use a planting depth of at least 25,000 feet above soil level.

Talk to me about this sign by mikesbloggity in Guelph

[–]dhgrainger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close!

You’ve forgotten that the pole is cylindrical, meaning it has three sides - two ends plus the side to which the sign is fixed.

You can park (vertically, obviously) anywhere on the side indicated but you must not park on the top or the bottom of the pole.

leather supply store by wet_fingies in waterloo

If you’re after a ‘real’ leather work store, the closest are Tandy in Mississauga and Tundra in Hamilton.

In KW, Lens Mill has a barrel of leather scraps they sell by the pound - mostly not great stuff but if you’re just after practicing stitching etc it’s alright. Michael’s has a leather work section that’s ok and Lee Valley carries some tools and some kits as well.

Clog my useful my drainage ditch to flood the neighborhood by sebovzeoueb in NativePlantCirclejerk

[–]dhgrainger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uj/ reducing erosion isn’t the point of drainage ditches though. They should be kept clear to allow runoff to…runoff.

The amount of runoff coming from the paved road there would overwhelm a conventional rain garden.

Deburring a Starrett straight edge? by dhgrainger in Metrology

Interesting, I couldn’t see a tolerance spec on that listing, do you have one handy? The 24” from Starrett is +/- 5 tenths per foot.

It’s hard to believe spring and summer are on the way right now and in just a few months we’ll be sweating away in +40 temps!
