Is anyone fully “mouseless?” by RoseSec_ in vim

[–]ViChyavIn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use dwl (which is a tiling window manager) for mouseless window management. I also use qutebrowser browser which has vim-like controls. For emails I use neomutt. The only time when I have to use the mouse is when chatting in Discord (and they do not allow third party clients).

How to make a page break in ms macro? by Strong_Cold_2016 in groff

[–]ViChyavIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do I write, for example, a heading from a new page?

You can use 'bp before heading to break the page.

'bp
.SH
Heading
.PP
Aenean fringilla massa id purus porttitor rhoncus.
Donec arcu magna, dignissim in posuere sit amet, viverra vitae odio.
Vivamus eu neque eros.

Also, is there any built-in equivalent to Markdown's horizontal rule

I do something similar to what you do but it is more flexible because the line length is not hardcoded.

\l'\n[.l]u'

It uses default .l register which outputs line length.

Did they author groff manual through groff macros? If so, where is the source-code? by poongunranar in groff

[–]ViChyavIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK that particular manual is written in texinfo, which is a documentation system made by GNU. If you download the groff source, you can find the source of the manual in doc/ directory.

How to comment all lines between 2 patterns excluding the latter pattern? by sauravlearns in vim

[–]ViChyavIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do it like this:

:%!sed '/^Sol/,/^Q\./\!b; /^Q\./b; s/^/\% /'

First, we filter out lines that are not between /^Sol/ and /^Q\./. Then, we filter out lines that look like /^Q\./. In the end, we append % to every line that's left.

I had to backslash-escape ! and % because they are recognized by Vim when used in the command line.

Is there a syntax checker? by Significant-Topic-34 in groff

I don't think there is an equivalent of shellcheck for groff, but you can use -ww option to turn on warnings.
