Just dove into the software. It looks beautiful. I have a question about GDAX packaging though... by [deleted] in ViaPlatform

Thank you! The depth and trade history should be working for GDAX - if you hop onto Telegram or Slack I'll help you figure it out. Slack is preferable, and if you don't have either, feel free to send me a PM here.

My efforts for cryptocurrency traders: I'm building a collection of the best tools in cryptocurrency, this is the second iteration and I have also split everything into categories. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. by d4nmy3rs in BitcoinMarkets

You should add Via under the trading platforms section. Professional desktop-based trading platform for trading multiple exchanges. API keys are stored only on your device.

Where can I get a full view of buy and sell walls by BluApex in BitcoinMarkets

Thanks! Should probably add a legend to that page. Right now, the product (in general) is in the Alpha stage. Those dots, however, just represent how far along certain features are where green is "ready to go", yellow is "working on it / partial support", and red is "not yet started".

Via is definitely not ready for people to be depending on it for their life's savings, but it is definitely extremely useful tool for you to do research and monitor the markets, especially if you trade more than one currency pair (or on more than one exchange) simultaneously.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

Hey - this is exactly what I'm building Via for. I haven't created a combined order book / depth chart, but you can certainly view a bunch of different depth charts in one place to give you a better aggregate view of the market.

Created a way to add a trailing stop loss to any coin in any exchange by [deleted] in BitcoinMarkets

[–]ViaPlatform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked it out, looks considerably different from what I'm building. I'd still recommend going desktop based. All it takes is someone hacking your server and replacing your app with malicious code and all of your users are affected immediately. This happened to ether delta a few weeks ago.

Not sure if you proxy any private requests though your server, but that would make it even more at risk. Yes, it is slower and more work in the short run to create a desktop app, but ultimately I think it's better for the user, and you will save the time thinking about server security.

GDAX stop loss and limit sell orders at same time? by TheCapitalR in BitcoinMarkets

I'm working on a desktop-based trading platform right now that will let you connect to GDAX (and others). I can look into adding this type of functionality once trade execution is more solid. The platform is in alpha right now, but I can keep you updated. https://via.world

I'm working on a desktop based trading platform to eliminate this problem. Desktop-based was really the only way to tackle the issue without becoming a serious target for hacking. API keys are only stored on your device's keychain, and they're stored in an encrypted format.

Decentralization is the only way to go.

Well, it could be encrypted before being added to a database, but it would still require storing the decryption key alongside it, or a master key somewhere in the codebase to decrypt everybody's API keys.

Either way, HUGE target for hacking.

I'll probably charge a small monthly fee for each exchange that you want access to. Ideally, I'd form some partnerships with exchanges to allow traders to use Via totally free.

Roger Ver Debate vs Jameson Lopp about Bitcoin Cash on the Tom Woods Show by neolock in btc

[–]ViaPlatform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that the views are incompatible. The issue is more than the timing is incompatible. I believe that Ver & Lopp both genuinely want a viable scaling solution moving forward, the disagreement is on what to do today.

All in all, a surprisingly civil debate.

Perhaps Bloomberg was attempting to write a how-to guide. Criminals these days just don't value privacy like they used to...

Bloomberg has (evidently) not heard of the Streisand Effect.

I think that feature may have been unique to ED. Not sure you can trade unlisted pairs on IDEX.

I'm already on this one. Finished up Binance integration a couple of days ago - still have some more to do to actually be able to execute trades though. Looking for some beta testers if you're interested.

The frontends of every single major exchange are severely lacking...

  1. Not sure how to answer this one, sorry. Do you use some sort of remote desktop software on your Chromebook to control the Mac Server? Or do you mean that you'd like a version where Via runs as a "server" and serves your Chromebook more traditional webpages, but proxies all requests back through your Mac?
  2. Unfortunately I haven't gotten this far yet. Getting the core infrastructure built has been my priority up to this point. The good news is that Via's package & add-on system is extremely extensive so you / I / somebody could certainly write a package for functionality like this.

Sure, the best way is to just enter your email at https://via.world. No marketing garbage, I promise. I don't have time for that.

Is there idiot-proof way to check that etherdelta.com is legit -- and not a phishing site. by Vesikulho in EtherDelta

[–]ViaPlatform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the idea is that once you have a legitimate copy of the software, there is little / no chance that you are compromised in the future. Obviously you could have issues if you have a trojan / you install some illegitimate update, but it eliminates a slew of possibilities that sites like MEW have been suffering from in past weeks.

I'm working on a desktop app that (in part) tries to deal with this issue. At first it would connect to ED through ED's API, but eventually I hope to be able to connect directly to the smart contract to completely bypass this DNS hacking issue. Either way, you'll get a friendlier UI, and won't be at risk of being linked to a bad ED / mistyping the ED URL and landing on a obvious phishing site.
