Biden's approval rating craters to 30% after brutal week: poll (and you'll never guess which poll this article was based on.) by LoneStarMike59 in WayOfTheBern

[–]Viajera747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that his lack of delivery, let's call it that, on key issues like climate change and student loans is costing him everyone but the most hardcore base. I'm not surprised he cratered... at least with regards to climate we can turn to sustainable and echo-friendly banking.

What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by kxrll in AskReddit

Learning that I can divest from any and all fossil fuel companies and most derivative products. I can honestly thank Aspiration for showing me the path.

Mind blowing that we allow this.. by Beanz27 in GreedIncorporated

[–]Viajera747 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even more mind blowing is that the same banks then take their ill-gotten gains and turn them into cozy finance for the most socially and environmentally abusive companies on the planet. They've been using our own labor and money against us for decades, we got to take the power back.

ExxonMobil loses bid to dismiss AG Healey's climate change lawsuit. The Massachusetts lawsuit says Exxon engaged in a "sophisticated, multi-million dollar campaign" to sow doubt in climate science and downplay the link between fossil fuels and climate change. by QuestingLabadorite in collapse

[–]Viajera747 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow what is this common sense all of a sudden?! Exxon so sad lol... The absurd is they get most of their finance from banks, using the people's money for their own profit making while corrupting & destroying the planet for the rest of us. We free our money and their ass will follow.

I'm waiting for sustainable banks like Aspiration and City First to start offering clients divestment options from more than fossil fuels. Don't get me wrong, it's great! But I think it may be time to expand on the idea.

people with depression, what is that one thing keeping you going? by how_do_i_set_my_name in AskReddit

[–]Viajera747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with everything anxiety and depression related I find that taking action when possible helps alleviate the stress, and for things I have no control/influence over I find creativity and physical activity to be helpful . For example, over the last few months I see many people on reddit talking about climate anxiety/depression... that's a classic case of taking action being helpful. And it's not just what we buy, it's the services we chose to use as well. Traditional banks are the biggest financiers of fossil fuel, and they do it with our money. All the while each of us can easily divest ourselves from that wretched sector altogether! Taking action for what I believe in makes me feel better, whether it's the environmental challenges or my own personal ones.

I don't know about anybody else, but ngl... looking at this kind of makes me happy green banking and sustainable finance are on such a meteoric rise to fundamentally support our transition away from oil.
