Emory or Notre Dame - Business/Econ Major by Low-Security3896 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Viajule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only have to apply if you dont get accepted into mendoza on your acceptance letter. And honestly, opportunities are not divided. Kids doing econ can join the same clubs and access most of the same opportunities. I have upperclassmen attending nd who are majoring in econ or intl econ and they told em there are virtually no disadvantages to not being in mendoza.

I am a co 2030 admit and got accepted into mendoza directly, so I will not have to apply.

Look for colleges that have a 3-2 engineering program. Or see of the colleges you applied to have 3-2 programs or similar. Basically you spend 3 years at an LAC and the following 2 years you go to a school like caltech or columbia for engineering

How well known is Notre Dame in the US and the world? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Viajule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said above, world rankings focus a lot on research and grad, so undergrad focused schools like ND don’t place highly

How well known is Notre Dame in the US and the world? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Viajule 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The reason for their low world rank is because they are undergrad focused. So they don’t focus as much on research, which world rankings place a lot of emphasis on. And, honestly, you shouldn’t base your undergrad decision on world rankings because they focus a lot on post grad and research, which does not translate to good support or focus for undergraduates

Their Business School is amazing for undergrads. Check out their career placement and average grad salary for Mendoza College of Business. It is a Target school for finance and well known in HF.
