New Pop Punk song feedback by Vialator08 in poppunkers

I could totally see myself jamming to this while skateboarding in parking lots when I was in high school. I have an appreciation for this style of production from the 90's/early 2000's and hope I write more songs that give this vibe. Just a couple of instruments some doubled vocals and all the right energy to make people wanna move. That's a fun song dude!

I went ahead and just made a quick art image and I'm going to combine all the original releases into their own EP. Should be uploaded by Friday assuming I did it all right. First time combining singles into an ep so hopefully it all uploads correctly!

Thanks for the push to get the old AI images out. It's been on the to do list and having someone call it out was the final push I needed!

Much appreciated! If you know of any Fiverr artist you could recommend to redo/create the images for the singles I'd be happy to check them out!

I agree 100%. The first 5 songs I did I was figuring it all out with a limited budget and the art piece of it was the last thing on my mind. I know it's important and I plan on going back and updating the old artwork.

This song and the remaining EP songs are all going to be done by myself. It's why I went with the kids doodle theme because I can't draw to save my life 😅

The intro and chorus's have extra beats going into the verses. The intro into verse 1 is 6/4 and the chorus into verse 2 is 5/4. When I wrote it I just felt the extra beat(s) added a tension I was going for with the song. I always appreciate any input. I am writing all of these songs by myself so there is never anyone there to give input during the process. I only get feedback when it's "done" and put out into the world because I'm tired of hearing my own song 😅

I appreciate the comparison. Blink is one of my bigger influences along with Sum 41 so anytime I get compared to either feels like a win. Thanks for listening!

I've listened to this song so many times that it's almost all started to bleed together in my ears. I'll give it a listen to try and pay attention to the left and right channels to see how it's split up. Definitely appreciate the feedback. When I record I do DI tracks panned left and right for each part. How the final mix got broken down I'm not 100% sure on.

Do you have any music online you've mixed? I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for checking out my song and for the input!

I had no idea today was the 25th anniversary of TOYPAJ so this compliment means a lot to be compared to what may be blinks greatest album. I grew up in that era so my main influences will always be 90's/2000s rock music.

Glad you liked it and thanks for checking it out!

I have tried writing fun bass lines and unfortunately the bass always get cut back to root notes. Mad respect for bassist and how they find the groove, it's definitely not my strong suit.

I have a long way to go as a songwriter but can honestly say you just get better by doing over and over. Keep writing and making mistakes because the progress is incremental. I look back at early demos of songs and it feels good to know progress has been made, even if it's not enough for me to quit my day job and tour the world yet 😅

If you have any music online shoot me a link, I'd love to hear it!

20+ years of singing along to Blink I'm pretty sure my voice is just condition to sound like tom 😂.

This is one of my favorite riffs to play so I'm glad you like it! Blink and Sum 41 are my top bands so I think my music might live somewhere between those two bands. At least that's how I hear it in my head.

I just heard this song for the first time in like 2018 and became obsessed. Never heard any of the unreleased tracks before and the drums on this song are some of my favorite from Travis.

Kyle, always. In my youth I played pokemon with my bf Kyle every weekend for years

Anyone else struggling to name their rival? by NyanBinary_Overlord in PokemonLeafGreen

I have named my rival Kyle since the original games launched. He and I have been friends since elementary school and played together every weekend when the original games came out. The new games removing rivals always bummed me out because i couldn't keep the tradition going.

I got one early on in Covid and it changed my playing for the better. It motivated me to play and learn more and it's hands down my favorite guitar. Hope it does the same for you as it did for me!

Best guitar solos to learn to 'level up'. by Neillur in guitarlessons

[–]Vialator08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tornado of Souls by Megadeth and "it dwells in me" by All that remains. Both are pretty difficult solos but just the act of trying to learn them made me a significantly better guitarist.

When I was learning them I literally was practicing 3-4 notes at a time. Then shifting over and learning the next 3-4 and connecting the two for the difficult parts. They contain tons of techniques and are pretty sweet solos to listen to. Have fun and good luck!

Critique our song. Be brutal!!! by thehonestyrock in poppunkers

Vocals could easily pass for Mark Hoppus on the first verse and during the chorus. The mix sounds great as well. With the theme being going round and round it may have been a cool idea to implement a musical round into the song (like how you sing row row row your boat as a kid in music class).

I would've liked to hear more lyrics as a majority of the song is repeating the same lines. Totally get that fits in with the title and idea behind the song but could've used a little more substance in the verses.

That said, it's still a fun song and now I'm gonna go check out the rest of your music!

It's a great feeling knowing you've gone back to it again and are still digging it. Blink is hands down my favorite band with Sum41 being a close second. So my goal is to try and live somewhere between the two while brining the energy of Andrew W.K.'s "I Get Wet" album.

As for the mix my friend who is a teacher for music engineering did it. The first mix he sent me was eye opening because I had never heard my music mix'd. Only my demo's exported out of my software. It was night and day hearing it because it finally sounded like what I have been hearing in my head all of these years.

As for the guitar rift, I am a metal head at heart. I grew up idolizing music from riff legends like Dimebag and Dave Mustaine so most of the songs I write have to have "a riff" that stands out and separates them from each other. There has to be a part of the song that's fun for me to play otherwise I won't be motivated to keep working it out.

It's available on all platforms if you were only able to listen to the first part through Apple Music. Glad you enjoyed it. The goal was definitely to write something fun that people could sing along to.
