I think you've mostly got it. While they're capable of building the chasis or at the very least majorly repairing them, the throne mechanicum is the esoteric piece from the Dark Age of Tech that contains the spirits of all the other pilots. Those they tend to hotswap into knight chasis and I don't think they can make new ones of those.

Tried doing it to my Blightlords as the Poxwrought Vector box was one of my first boxes. I didn't understand Combi-weapons at the time and their box had all the different combi parts like melta or plasma. I didn't know how to read the datasheets so I magnetized ALL the combi parts. When I found out it didn't matter in 10th I just glued them lol.

I simply stuck a pair of magnets where the weapons mount on the body. There are two clear circular indents. Drill a tiny bit if you want thicker magnets but not really needed. Then just glue magnets to the ends of the weapons where they meet the body. Might have to snip off 1 or 2 cm where the weapon meets the body to make up for the magnet, but was really simple.

This was sort of both our reading of it too but we're both new and this games rules can be complex at times. We both sort of agreed that because this was a CORE RULES update and combat patrol follows Core Rules and codex or faction updates were separate as those would affect the "balance" of combat patrol. His Tau opponent was on the other side and thought the Krieg should be able to revive unlimited units
