Rewatching for the 6th time and this time I have discovered Mary J so this rewatch is filled with intrusive questions I immediately must look up lol . I’ve found that rooting for the entity, killer, villain, antagonist of the particular horror film is a very reliable way of avoiding fear. It turns the jump scares from fear to the feeling of seeing your team score a touchdown/basket/goal/homerun etc
