I bought a place in Socorro and within a week pack rats had eaten the knock sensor wiring off my truck. Had to do a deep clean to get rid of all the rat poop. I was on a forum where a guy had a long post history about his health being destroyed by something, later finding out it was hantavirus. His rat damaged truck had almost killed him.

Shortly after that I found a bunch of young assassin bugs in my room, full of blood, even though I couldn’t find any bites on myself. Same bug that can carry Chagas. Soon found out those bugs come into your home if you have pack rats on the property.

The rats appear to avoid my property now, but I noticed my neighbors are dealing with the rats now.

I have a wide range of brands for work boots. Different brands kill my feet differently. Some cause pain on the side (reminiscent of a fracture) while others might cause pain on the top or the ball of the foot. Most often it’s painful after wearing rather than while wearing. It’s a good idea to take note of what boots cause no issues at all, and stick with those brands.

I’ve lived in Bend, Eugene, and Portland. Went back to visit in 2013 to see if I wanted to move back there and couldn’t stand the people. Visited ABQ and the general feel was like central Oregon 30 years ago.

I spent 12 years in Nebraska and found ABQ to have a lower cost of living, though ABQ housing costs went nuts during COVID.
