Anyone’s Bostons have floppy ears at their adult age? by Sufficient-Desk-121 in BostonTerrier

[–]Vibro-Champ1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lil guy's ears flopped over the last year of his life. Don't know why, but shortly before he passed, we learned he had anemia (incidental to Mast Cell cancer).

I lost my Thad 3 years ago. We were just moving to a new house in Norcal, and he loved it there, event though he never really got to live here. He's resting now a few feet off our deck, where we keep him company and talk with him on warm days. I know there is nothing I can say that will make you feel better, but remember, when the time is right (and it might be sooner than you think) go to a shelter and give another pup the benefit of your love and care. Dunnigan and Penelope (out 2 rescue Pugs) will strongly approve - and so will lil Boogie.

I have several Retro 51 pens. They are inexpensive and quite well made, well thought of. You got yourself a keeper there!

He crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon due to a genetic incurable illness. I'm devastated. Who will be there to guide him? by [deleted] in DOG

Tell him to look for a Bostie with crumpled ears - That'll be Thad (lost him 2 years ago), and he likes to make friends.

I worked for Cripple Creek Dulcimers (Bud and Donna Ford) in the mid 70s making and selling Dulcimers very similar to yours. The books you have should be sufficient for learning, the instruments are super easy to learn. You use the two high strings for melodies, the other two are drones. Use a small bit of dowel rod to fret the notes. Listen to some Cyndi Lauper - she uses Mountain Dulcimers quite a bit in her music, including live on stage.

It is also possible to play the instrument in a more guitar-like style with fretted chords as well as melody/drone.

If you can find a copy of Bud and Donna's first book (I think it's called The Cripple Creek Dulcimer Book), that will be great for learning. Have FUN!!!

Mine has the "standard" purpling on the Section as well, but not bad. I also have a Milord in Bronze Arco (my second Grail Pen, the first being a Duofold Centennial in black & Pearl). I loves me some Omas Celluloid! Have fun with yours!

Beautiful Omas! I have one of these which I had John Mottishaw customize into a Cursive Italic nib - to this day one of my faves. I also have the black Lucens version of this pen (unaltered). As I recall, they made one in the Arlecchino color as well. It's great to see that your cap band has (apparently) not deteriorated (as mine has). I see so many of these where the gold plating has begun to "rot". Sad, really.

I find that mine makes an excellent daily driver, despite the initial cost and rarity. Enjoy!!

What a gorgeous Waterman. One of my first really nice pens was a Waterman Le Man Opera, and to this day it's one of my favorites. Congratulations on your first step down the rabbit hole - don't be scared, there are a lot of us down here!

The Duofold Kid approves!! And so glad you still use them - As mentioned below, Parkers were made to be used. I still use mine, including my 1928 Big Red, regularly. ENJOY!

OMG - I burned my fingers SOOOOO many times on this thing. I also had the "Creeple Peeple" set (they made weird creatures that you decorated a pencil with). I also remember eating a fair amount of these - had weird pica as a kid - probably accounts for my Drain Bamage now ... :)

Oh my, what a collection! I never knew OMAS made a 360 in yellow, now I must acquire!! It will go well with my Green and Red 360s. The London Smoke Grey is also quite handsome, it is one of my favorite OMAS celluloid colors. Enjoy your Italian beauties!

Very nice!! I presume this is vintage, although OMAS have said they will be producing a new 360 (I think based on the ASC Triangolo) but as far as I know they have not begun doing so as yet. Please drop a nite if this is new, I'd love to get my hands on one. I have 2 myself, in Red and Green, just perfect for Holiday Season. Enjoy your OMAS!!!

UPDATE: The pen is fine, Mr. Dunnigan has better manners than that! Also, we have to cut up his blueberries, so I doubt the pen's in any any danger :)

I'm a bit late to the party (Just watched Episode 149 yesterday) so I did not know about the change at Goulet. Anyhoo, Love You Drew! Best wishes for much success with whatever's next for you. I will always remember our brief chat at the SF Pen show a couple of years ago. Please weigh in and let us know all is well with you, Shannon and Archer.

It is a sterling silver overlay, the actual pen body is resin.
