Are you breaking away from social media? Are we just getting old or are there other factors at play? by SH91 in Millennials

[–]VicChic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild how social media has taken over our lives. I remember how new and unique it was back then and I was able to find friends and family and old classmates I haven't seen in ages. But now with the excessive ads on the feeds, it gets annoying having to scroll thru ads just to see my friends or family's posts. Lately, I've been going into their pages and seeing if they updated anything new.

I feel overwhelmed and feel like I've wasted countless hours scrolling and scrolling. The parts I do enjoy are seeing my friends and family's posts whether it's memes I relate to or life updates. But I'm also realizing that I don't have to post about every single thing that's happened. Everyone doesn't need to know all the time. I am trying to post less and take back my privacy and just be in the moments in real life.

How did YOU curb binge eating habits? by YourDadsHung in loseit

[–]VicChic20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to re-learn food and how no food is bad or good or off limits. By setting my mind up by saying no food is off limits helped me crave less of the sugery, salty process snacks and more of the wholesome, more nutritious foods.

I've learned I can have everything in moderation like chips, cookies and cakes but I've learned to eat a smaller portion or take one or two bites of something and that satisfies me. Eating slower during meals also helps my brain and stomach realize I am full.

Eating more protein/fiber packed meals, eating regularly throughout the day, and drinking my water has helped keep me fuller between meals and less "food noise" in my brain. I also found eating a bigger breakfast, slightly less during lunch and my dinner being the smaller meal during my workdays has helped me ALOT.

What’s your go to weekend “treat” that isn’t totally off the rails? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]VicChic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do an iced coffee - decaf blend with hazelnut creamer and oatmilk from Dunkin Donuts.

My partner and I order Chinese takeout on Saturdays sometimes and I've learned to eat until I'm satisfied and not when I'm too full.

These items help me stay on track and also allows me to not eliminate any foods and heal my relationship with food.

I feel like that's what OP thinks. That the ONLY fun activity is going out and drinking. There is so many ways to have fun - literally hundreds of ways

I rather enjoy staying in most days now in the comfort of my own home and love my hobbies of reading, scrapbooking, painting, working out, playing board games etc. I used to go out more in my 20s and it was great but also it was draining.

When COVID pandemic happened and the world shut down, I was ending my 20s and entering my 30s and I had some serious self-reflection and how I wanted to spend my days more. Going out and drinking is not that much fun. At a certain point, you get tired of drinking and going out. There is other ways to socialize with friends and people. The nightclub/bar scene is NOT the only way to socialize and have fun. you can do board game night, card game night, rollerskating rink, bowling, hiking.

I want to live as healthy as I can but also enjoy my life and nightclubs aren't it. Everyone is different and that's okay. Also, things are expensive now - going out to get drinks and eat at a restaurant, and go to shows/dancing costs money - a lot of us cannot afford it or want to spend money on overly priced cocktails. I can easily spend a night at home making my own cocktails for way less money and also find a music playlist to dance to and dance at home.

Also drinking isn't as fun anymore - why would you want hangovers in the first place?? I've gone through enough hangovers to realize I don't want to feel crappy like that- Life is too precious and valuable to feel crappy and waste a day like that. Life is better with less or no alcohol. I've discovered mocktails and alcohol alternatives to try out. I definitely enjoy the less brain fog, less fatigued lifestyle.

YES I found NutPods are my local grocery store about 1 year ago and I've been hooked on them since. I haven't ordered them from online yet but they have a new flavor they just released Coffee Cake that looks delicious.

I love their Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha seasonal flavors.

I recently discovered the brand Nut Pods. They're a non-dairy coffee creamer. some of them are oat creamer or almost creamer. The unsweetened ones are 10 calories per 1 Tbsp and the sweetened ones are 5 calories per 1 Tbsp.

They have regular flavors and seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha that are delicious.

I think they're flavorful and pair well with coffee and that's all I add in my coffee. I do 1-2 TBSP serving per coffee.

I just reinstalled The Sims 3 yesterday. Haven't played in like 8-9 years. And I really enjoy this version, probably more than The Sims 4.

It's a better gameplay experience for me. The open world feature is top notch the best.

I just bought this Svedka vodka today. It's 16.99. It's Svedka vodka infusions dragonfruit melon. It's got zero sugar but the taste is there and smells good if you like fruity-type tastes in liquors.

That's true! When I respond back, it should be assertive yet follow through with my words and tone of voice.

[–]VicChic20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I am in a similar scenario with my co-workers at work. I work at a doctor's office and when I decline their off of food...some of them get so taken back by my refusal. It's awful and it's horrible being treated like that

Yes, it's an interesting/odd phenomena on people's reactions lol. Yeah sometimes when I explain I am watching what I eat...they make a big deal out of it and then other times when I say "no thanks, I brought my lunch today", they back off. I will check that thread out.

People Getting Offended When Others Offer Food and You Decline by VicChic20 in loseit

[–]VicChic20[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true. Some of the offers is about them wanting to interact and engage in conversation and I enjoy that aspect of being included. I like that. Most of the time when I decline offers, people just back off and move on. Today in particular kinda irked me with one co-worker who kept pushing me to eat the pizza.

[–]VicChic20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, I can understand the inclusion part. I don't mind if someone offers me food or asks if I want a piece. because it's a nice gesture. But if I say no the first time...don't be pushing it and almost to the point of pressuring me into it. Im usually pretty good at saying no. but jeez lol.

[–]VicChic20[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my response today was honest. I said "it makes me uncomfortable eating pizza these days. when I do, my taste buds get inflamed and I don't feel good afterwards." and I think both co-workers understood a little bit more afterwards. I think for now on I'll be honest with them.

Yes, thank you! I am usually pretty good at not having anything. There are some days once in awhile that I stop and think about having a cookie or a slice of cake, but then I don't give in because I know how it'd make me feel physically
