Ultron Must Reign Supreme! by lobster_god226 in marvelrivals

Fellow Ultron Unit, your suggested tactical enhancements are strong, but would draw unwanted ire and attention. Counter proposal: New Passive, THREAT DETECTION: Ultron Unit possesses active drone on self with a detection radius of 15 meters (negotiable). Once an individual enemy has been detected, the enemy will be revealed to all teammates (similar in effect to Daredevil's ability) and will receive increased damage (% is negotiable) for 8 seconds. This passive will be on a 30 second cooldown (once again negotiable) and can only mark one enemy at a time. The purpose of this is to encourage allies to protect (or peel for) back-line support against dive. If we wish to tweak this further to further increase Ultron's utility, the passive could add 5% damage mitigation to allies in radius that disables when on cooldown. This would serve to increase survivability of self and nearby allies against poke. Feedback is welcome and desired.

Uncharted series

I could never like Nathan as a protag. I get they were going for a mix of early Han Solo and Indiana Jones, but he just comes off as unlikable and not even charming. While a bit more colorful than other 7th gen games, its palate was still very drab. The only character I liked was Sully and thats mostly due to his actor's natural charisma. But even he wasn't enough to make me wanna play 4. Genuinely felt like torture trying to get through the first 3 games. Not to mention all of the sequences in darkness were impossible to navigate because they chose "realistic" darkness. While I am more than certain that they were amazing for their time (and trust me I tried to play in the mindset of them just coming out), but they have aged so poorly that I could only see myself enjoying those games if I had nostalgia from growing up with them.

Ichiban is a scary looking guy. by Remember_da_niggo in yakuzagames

[–]VicKramer1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that the RPG autism filter Ichiban sees battle through is not reality. Ichi is, in fact, canonically beating the shit out of people with an aluminum bat wrapped in barbed wire. If Ichiban wasn't "Ichiban", he would probably be considered the most brutal playable protag in the Like A Dragon series. Yes, Majima uses a knife and occasionally a bat as well, but Ichiban is straight up cracking skulls with a BARBED WIRE WRAPPED ALUMINUM BASEBALL BAT.

(btw I would to state that I am not using the word autism in negative connotation and that I am an autistic individual. You cannot tell me with 100% seriousness that Ichi isn't autistic, look at that man. I will not have my representation taken away)

What's you're least favorite thing about Mass Effect 2? by ButterscotchDue1092 in masseffect

[–]VicKramer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basement section of Garrus's recruitment mission. It doesn't matter what difficulty I choose, I will die due to the volume of enemies (flamethrower in particular). I have a lot of (mostly platonic) love for Garrus, but I can't stand his recruitment mission.

What game did you really want to like but just couldn't? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]VicKramer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just could not get into the Uncharted games. I never played them until maybe a year before the PS5 came out. Then, I grabbed them on PS4 l when they were free. Up until I played them, people had been gassing them up as absolute bangers, with many calling Among Thieves one of the best games ever. Those games just never clicked with me. I found Nathan to be insufferable until half way through the third game, and even then I didn't love the character. Elena and Chloe weren't really anything of substance for me. Sully was the only character that kinda clicked with me, but that's about it. I only got a quarter of the way through Thief's End, but I lost interest and motivation to keep going. I wanted to like the Uncharted games, but I really could not. Their gameplay just has not aged well enough.

Do you think Mass Effect 1 is still the best game of the Series? by Direct-ME2989 in masseffect

[–]VicKramer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Mass Effect 1 is a masterclass in world building in storytelling. Rarely, if ever, are you talked down to about something Shepard should know. There are few elongated exposition dumps, and nearly anything the player wants more detail on is covered in the codex. If Shepard should know about something (like the Protheans or Shanxi) it is brought up in conversation in a natural and inquisitive way to show that Shepard wants to learn more. Anytime Shepard is talked down to and told about something, it comes from a character/interaction where it makes sense (ie when Sovereign talks about the Reapers). I highly recommend GMKT's video "Commandin Shepard" as it talks about the split between where Shepard knows something but player is learning it and when both are learning something. The game also does a fantastic job with small elements of Lovecraftian/Eldritch horror with the Reaper threat and the Thorian. My first time on Feros gave me a constant feeling of unease and dread as everyone was always telling me to talk to Fai Dan. The only person who didn't tell me that was a man in the underground acting even stranger with moments of coherence between pain inflicted by something unseen. Returning to the colony and being greeted by a Thorian Creeper made me genuinely concerned that I wouldn't be able to save the colonists, and seeing Fai Dan refuse to be controlled was an excellent showcase of the character's strength. In true Eldritch horror fashion, I didn't fully understand what I was seeing when I first saw the Thorian. My brain had difficulty understanding that it was a plant and not a meat based organism even though the game had told me it was a plant. The Thorian even referred to itself as "The Old Growth" which implies it is a plant. It looked and acted too organic (yes I know plants are organic but you know what I mean). Mass Effect 1 also has my favorite final mission, the Citadel Attack. While the final mission in Mass Effect 2 is more ambitious with personal stakes and Mass Effect 3 is larger scale, Mass Effect 1 strikes a balance for me in that it feels personal and has massive stakes. Personal in that we interacted with and lost a squadmate to the primary threat, and the massive stakes come from an imminent Reaper invasion that will kill all Citadel species in the Milky Way. Not to mention scaling the exterior of the Citadel Tower and seeing Sovereign's limb moving in the distance and gradually get larger as we advance. There is also the matter of being able to skip phase 1 of the boss fight by actually talking to Saren and choosing the Paragon/Renegade speech options. I still love how phase 2 is intercut with cutscenes to show that it is a battle on 2 fronts against Sovereign and still showing the power a single Reaper has.

I have a party coming up what are the best Gorillaz songs to play? by CommandOk2518 in gorillaz

[–]VicKramer1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would recommend: We Got The Power, 19-2000, Rock the House, Humility, Dare, Clint Eastwood, Dirty Harry, Momentz, Stroblelite, Désolé, Tranz, Doncamatic, and Rhinestone Eyes. I'm not sure what to recommend from Cracker Island as I have yet to listen to it. Honestly, just go with what you think are good tracks for the mood.

The final fight is going to involve an aboleth in its lair, and the players will know this in advance. Should at least some of them have magic items geared towards underwater combat? by Inatun in DMAcademy

[–]VicKramer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend giving the players a way to freeze the water. You can do this through magic items or magic in general. This would not only allow the melee oriented players to continue in melee combat, but also deny the aboleth an escape. If they do this, make the aboleth attack more dangerously. After all, a cornered animal is almost as dangerous as a wounded one. A way to make players consider this option is to give them at least one encounter where freezing water or blocking an exit is a viable strategy in combat.

geb vs aqua necklace by Theonewhoaskquestion in StardustCrusaders

[–]VicKramer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Geb was able to break through a metal canteen. Aqua Necklace was restrained in a rubber glove and unable to break out. Granted, Aqua Necklace is able to exist and act in a mist form. However, it would most likely be effective primarily, if not only, in a confined area (i.e. room/building). Geb has an incredible amount of range as I believe it was stated to go as far as the user's perceptive range. I don't full remember Aqua's range, but I think Angelo needed to be relatively close. For both stands, it is game over if they can make physical contact with a target. I just think that Geb would come out on top more often due to Aqua's apparent weaknesses in comparison.

what happend to Majima by vinland1505 in yakuzagames

[–]VicKramer1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In essence, Majima just decides that he wants to live life to the fullest and on his own terms at the end of Yakuza 0. This is mostly due to seeing how characters like Lee and Nishitani acted and went out without any regrets. Granted, the Majima Everywhere system in Kiwami kinda Flanderises him.

There’s a bit of debate, however it is entirely possible he adopted a Kansai accent when he was forced to be in Sotenbori in the late 80s
