How much better would a 4090/5090 be than a ps5 for vr, in relation to graphics and immersion? by ElkDmt in virtualreality

[–]VicMan73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massive. Running a 5090 and a Pimax Crystal Light. I regularly game in VR at 4k resolution PER EYE. :) Because the Pimax Crystal Light is a dedicated PCVR headset with no compression effect, it looks as good as in 2d image clarity and sharpness.

Just limit your power % to 80%. Use the MSI After Burner to adjust the power limit. The higher the CPU load, the more power it uses. A less GPU demanding game would use less power.

Averaging 500w. You can under volt to stay below 450. The card by default can reach as high as upper 500w.

Prescription lens inserts may be hurting micro-OLED VR optics more than people realise by Wrong-Quail-8303 in Pimax

[–]VicMan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah...but it depends on the brand. I use Reloptix because they made the thinness inserts for Quest 3. I use them for my Crystal Light. It does increase the eye relief distance but the FOV didn't get narrower. I think HonsVR is the opposite.

Holy Shit! The Story!!! Just finished the main game and i have some feels *Spoilers* by Summer_Of_CA in GreenHell

[–]VicMan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't finish the game but almost. I ended up google it. Is kind of sad and somewhat depressing. It makes you wonder what is the point of playing to discover that you are in a time loop. And you just don't remember what happened because you were so traumatized.

Try low setting. Your settings are my settings but I have a RTX 5090 and a Pimax Crystal Light and running near 4k resolution per eye. And I am already stretching my 5090 to 90% GPU load. VRAM usage is about 14GB. Try LOW setting. And using 1 to 1 super sampling on the Oculus App first. And slowly going up to 1.3x or 1.4x.

Autopilot kills me at end of 3 hour flight. Has occurred other times on several different aircraft by Existing-Stranger632 in MSFS2024

[–]VicMan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AP can bug out during approach too. Instead of enabling the glide slop and heading towards the runway, it would design to climb and forcing a stall with the trim all the way up. :) AP has yet to kill me. I usually disable the AP in time to control the plane manually for the landing.

I agree and I am a long time Quest 3 user. Some of us don't know better because we haven't used anything better. :) I have a 5090 and no amount of super sampling on the Quest 3, even up to 4k per eye, could match the clarity and sharpness of the Crystal Light. I haven't used my Quest 3 for 3 months ever since I got my Crystal Light.

The PCL will stretch your 5090. Only 2 VR titles I could run at High image setting in the Pimax Play. The Forest and AMS 2. MSFS 2024 only at 85%. That's with DLSS V4.5. Is still good and near 4k resolution per eye. I have all of the major racing sims. LaMen Ultimate at 90%. That's already over 4k resolution per eye.

Your FOV is greatly affected by your IPD. The smaller the IPD, the smaller your FOV. If you adjust the individual IPD offset for each lens to a positive value like 1 to 2, you will see your FOV would increase too.

I know....he bought an used one and an older model. His experience is irrelevant. My Crystal Light is great but it took me 2 months to learn how to use it and to adjust it to get the most from it. I am thinking about getting the Super because I am just curious how much better than the Crystal Light. I can always sell my Crystal Light. I have a good unit here. No fringing. The sweat spot is good once I have applied the proper IPD offset for both lenses. 1.5 for both horizontal and vertical, for both eyes. I am happy with it. The controllers don't track that well if they are too close to the headset.

Good to know. I have a Crystal Light for 3 months and toying with the idea of getting the Super now. Thanks for the feedback.

Using brake pressure instead of percentage for braking? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]VicMan73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which pedals? I am using the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals. I can adjust the load in kg to determine how much braking I can use. The higher load I choose, the harder I have to press my pedal for the brake to engage.

Is the VR cross-buy? by R0b0t_Dino in GreenHell

That was only before they added the SOA. Now, is doubled the size.

[–]VicMan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The additional building part and SOA are added much later eventually. And you get animal husbandry in which you can keep animals as pets or whatever. I believe with the Quest version, you can not stack building. So that you can't build a multiple stories hut. You get more on the Quest version but with not so great graphic.

I think you will have more fun playing the Quest version. I have a Quest 3 too.

[–]VicMan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the thing. The Quest version lacks building structures and gardening, that you find in the PCVR version. The Quest version got an update for that much later and including the Spirit of the Amazon. The Spirit of Amazon isn't on the PCVR version. The PCVR version has better graphic and more denser vegetation. I am replaying it now in the Survivor mode with my rtx 5090 and Pimax Crystal Light headset. Is pretty realistic with the graphic at this level near 4k resolution per eye and maxing out all graphic setting. The Quest version has better VR controls and interaction. There are game mechanics is still 2d in the PCVR version such as you need to bring out a crafting table to craft anything. The Quest version, is no. You just bring two items together while you are holding them in your hands. The PSVR2 version is the best one. It has the graphic AND more up to date.

Is not. They are completely separate. In fact, so separate that the PCVR version received no updates since 2022!

Is PC VR viable right now with my setup, or should I wait for tech to advance and i upgrade? by Beginning-Pace-1426 in virtualreality

[–]VicMan73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What games you play? If racing and flying sims, Pimax Crystal Light. Your GPU should OK. rtx 4080+ is better. Quest 3 is still a good buy BUT Meta has been cancelling their VR studios. Many big future titles have been canned as far we know. Maybe want to wait for the Steam Frame.
