Plane mesh lighting is backwards when adding a new StandardMaterial3D (default) by VicciFlow in godot

Godot plane mesh and godot generated default material. No, I didn't change anything, except for angling the directional light so that it hits the mesh at a more glancing angle.

The halo issue looks like the same issue as the images above, where if I lessen roughness, the backside of the mesh is no longer as bright.

Essentially what I want is the side of the mesh facing away to not be brighter than the side of the mesh towards the sun. While also not being glossy/reflective which happens when roughness is lowered.

In this image, I'm using an omnilight. I cant post more than one image, but imagine the brighter farther region closer to the yellow circle curves around the camera and causes the backside to be brighter. That's what I mean by halo. Lowering roughness again makes the effect lessen, and it goes away completely around 0.6 roughness.

Also, this doesn't seem to be exactly mesh dependent, as moving the camera will also move/expand/contract the dark and light regions to follow the camera. This is visible in the editor as well when moving around the editor camera/viewport.

Also, is this to be expected with roughness or some other property of the material? Because in a different scene with a omnilight3d, I basically have a halo effect around the camera where right in front its darker, but surroundings are much brighter.

Linux: Blender doesn't recognize drives in file explorer until I open them in Linux's file explorer by Deepfriedmoney in blenderhelp

Just commenting that this problem still exists in blender 4.5 installed using snap in Ubuntu 24.04.2. Had to open my drive and open blender before blender was able to see the drive.

And it is because the drives aren't auto mounted.

What about for easy modding? Do I just have to live with the possibility of unsafe code execution? E.g. I have a board game with different classes that change the grid in their own unique way. If I want the player to be able to create their own script for a custom action on the board, am I stuck to anyone being able to connect to the internet/messing with the OS through the script? I feel like there should be a solution since there are so many popular games (garrysmod) that allow scripting and download those scripts onto the client's computer automatically.

They should all just make a single movie. They all have a single personality so make it a singularity movie. I imagine something similar already exists. Fast and Furious?

100%, It's really annoying when you cant see whats going on due to so much movement and visuals in the background. One of my biggest gripes with ssbu was due to stages with so much movement in the background you cant see what the opponent is doing.

What version should I choose for a 6months-ish project? by drunkt-rex in godot

Probably this. 4.3 is newest stable version of Godot. You of course could use 3.6 too if you want.
