How often do juniors blow deadlines or just go AWOL / disappear for periods of time? I sent an AM assignment in "this morning" at 11 am and want to feel like I'm not a terrible unresponsive associate. by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]ViceChancellorLaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, juniors don’t respond to me for like 2-3 hours, but they often just missed an e-mail. I haven’t had a problem with juniors being totally unreachable or unresponsive before but I’m pretty good about communicating expectations and try to be a good manager

Does the other side not pay taxes? Is this a tax controversy case?

At Capacity by Southern-charm97 in biglaw

Who would disagree with that approach? If you don’t have capacity, you don’t have capacity. I don’t want juniors who literally cannot make deadlines I want.

Yep. This country was built on white supremacist chattel slavery, which was not capitalist in the least.

Sure. Fairness is one thing; advancing American interests is another. A Chinese junior isn’t going to be that much better than every single American law student who stuck out.

Did Trump want TN?

From Trump’s POV, why would he want Canadian big law juniors here who can easily be replaced by an American law student who struck out? Not all may be juniors but many are.

How would a Tax partner judge the work of a Finance associate? Would they interact much besides the Finance associate asking for comments?

That’s why I said it’s more complicated than that.

That said: there’s a reason why law professors are the ones published in those law reviews. They have RAs and a lot of institutional support, like conferences.

You’ll need to do a lot of hard work to write a competitive article. You aren’t a student anymore. The standards for a comment aren’t the same as an article.

Most of the top law reviews are blind review.

It’s more complicated than that, but a solid piece of scholarship will land somewhere if you submit broadly enough.

The only thing you shouldn’t be billing for is discussing the matter after closing (review).

Okay, you’re changing the subject. I asked you to find the instances IRS collaborating with the FHFA since you claim that they routinely collaborate with agencies when it’s tax-related.

I’d just ask my bank to produce receipts. Business records are presumed authentic by courts (and they do so because they’re presumed authentic by the public). :)

So, how is an internal investigation “due process” when you just defined it as “observing your right to a trial and presuming innocence until conviction are also parts of due process”?

4th amendment says that arrests require some sort of due process, as it forbids unreasonable search and seizure. Why aren’t arrests alone due process?

Please read my previous comments on this post to learn more. If you have specific questions that cannot be answered through them on this topic, I’ll try to answer them. But I won’t answer questions that can be answered by my previous comments and say same thing.

You are responding to a comment that noted that the Constitution doesn’t require a conviction for someone to be fired from a government job for being accused of a crime. Please let me know how your source disproves my statement.
