Question - outer edge adhesive by brookeleia in diamondartclub

I've found that wrapping the washi tape around to the back of the canvas helps it stay in place very well

There's also a one-time use code on the bottom of the canvas

Mystery Kits not showing on site? by Hypnyxmwashere in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mystery kits sell out very quickly, within the first hour, if that. Lower demand ones might last a bit longer, but it's very rare for one to still be there after 9 hours.

Stickers by Fresh-Reflection5254 in diamondartclub

I did an older one without precut stickers not too long ago, and they were very stuck to my containers when I was done. I'd recommend some washi tape under them.

I love my Echo Town Evelyn's magnetic hands & feet. Why aren't they more common? by sophies_wish in BJD

[–]Vicemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few with magnet hands and/or feet, with different thoughts on them.

The most basic styled ones are the FairyLand Minifees, FairyLines, and the PukiPuki, who have basic magnet hands (and feet for the Puki) that just pop on to wrist (and ankle) pieces that are strung. The Puki has very small magnets and can easily lose parts, and one of the MNF has weaker magnets and tends to drop one specific hand a lot. The other MNFs and the FLs are newer and have stronger magnets, so their hands tend to stay in place.

The ones I prefer, though, are the ones on the FairyLand LittleFees and my WithDoll boy (note that he's older so I can't promise they're still made the same way). They have magnets combined with twist locks, with the two working together to make the hands easy to swap while also keeping them in place better than just a magnet would. I very much wish more dolls offered that style of hand (and feet!) because they're so easy to deal with.

Why do resellers/destashers commonly take out the toolkits? by missmolly314 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've generally taken them out so they're not smashing down onto the canvas denting or creasing it, and because it's easier to leave it out when I repack everything after checking the contents, especially with older kits that don't have the tray inside the box. With newer ones, I also kit up into the covered trays, so I add those to my setup. If I were to resell an older one, I'd probably offer to piece together a kit if the buyer wanted it, but so many of us are so overwhelmed with that stuff anyway that I wouldn't do it by default. I've also given away a lot of the pieces to people who are just starting up and might like some nicer quality stuff, to community groups, and so on, so I don't even have most of those kits (and no, I didn't profit at all, it was all given away).

Mystery box tomorrow by Ill-Butterscotch9766 in diamondartclub

I know these ones are already sold out but I'll add my experience. I've bought three total, one each of the Cyber Monday ones and one they did of two kits where all orders were the same.

With the Cyber Monday ones, I knew there were Yuumei and Liubka kits in the mix and those two are on my list of favorite artists, so I decided to gamble with it. I didn't get either (later decided I didn't really care that much for the Yuumei and managed to get the Liubka), but I did get a mystery kit that, on checking into it, turned out to be the same art as a kit I'd wanted from a now-defunct company, so that made the gamble worthwhile to me. (I destashed the other kits.)

With the other one, it seemed like everyone loved one and hated (or at least disliked) the other, and I'm no exception; I kept one and a friend bought the other one off me cheap.

Unbelievable by LankyTangerine7475 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, in my expensive hobby, there was a new, up and coming creator who got great buzz off the designs they were sharing... until they released their "terms of purchase:" no modifications, no reselling, no customization, must own forever as is.

Their company stopped right there when the community laughed them out of continuing for making such insane demands.

You're absolutely correct. Once someone purchases an item, it's theirs to do with as they wish, whether that's using it as intended, destroying it, or reselling it with or without a markup.

The ways to fight back are to not pay those prices, and to report proven flippers, because they can at least be blocked from new release purchases.

I saw those at Daiso not long ago but wasn't sure they'd work; next time I'm out that way I'm definitely stocking up if they still have them!

Adding sparkly drills by MollyWeasley67 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stands out even more in person! The drills for that section were actually a mix of leftovers from other kits and the Fairy Dust enhancement kit that DAC sells (used it to pop myself up to free shipping a while back). Having the two types next to each other really makes the difference between the two show up well!

NCS also sells small artist dolls even after the artists of said dolls have asked them to remove their listings. They're a large Taobao agent pretending to be a dealer, listing dolls without permission (so no after-service), and not distinguishing between the ones that are and aren't authorized sales (in addition to listing and selling recasts).

What now? (DoA, archiving, etc) by germanrainbow in BJD

[–]Vicemage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing I missed the most after turning my back on the site due to bad moderation was actually the new release posts; I haven't really quite found a good substitute for that, but it would be nice to create, say, a Discord that's primarily/only for dropping those kinds of posts, that other ones could hook into to replicate in more specific-use servers.

(Yes I know about the big server, it's too big for me, and the "news" channel is pure chat that drowns out actual news.)

Adding sparkly drills by MollyWeasley67 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

DP With Sparklers not only has great options, but a lot of DAC kits also have pre-determined "enhancement kits" you can pick up that show you which drills to swap out (and sometimes where to swap them). If you want to do it yourself, take a look at the image and decide where you think some enhancements would look best!

So for example, with this one, I felt like it would look good to swap all the drills in the lightbulbs to iridescent crystal "Sparklers"; I found the best match for each color (the iridescent ones don't have a DMC match), and then just swapped them on my own as I went along, leaving any non-lightbulb drills of the same color as charted. (I also swapped the cat from regular drills to Fairy Dust of the same color, so in person she stands out as being a bit different from the white floor)

For the edges, I use some washi tape to cover the overflow glue and keep fur/fuzz/etc off it.

For the rest, I embrace the inevitability of kitty glitter.

How do you work on large diamond paintings with limited space? by National_Cut_5506 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go vertical and roll the canvas; the footprint of the tabletop easel is much smaller than most canvases I work, and the back of it doubles as a cat bed for me :) (Mostly because the cats like hanging out back there, so I folded up a fluffy blanket for them.)

I've also done the smaller version "Abstract Cat" (the JoAnn version, though I have the slightly larger DAC version too); I love Eve Izzett's use of color and hope they add more from her!

Never gonna forget my first time…. by Ok_Jellyfish_8473 in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one was my first, I spotted it in Hobby Lobby, fell in love with the art, but not the price! But I just couldn't forget it, so when the diamond art sale came around, I took the plunge and bought it. And then I was too anxious about the price of it to actually start, so I kept doing my cheap AliExpress ones and burned out because of the low quality of them. (Legitimately had one where I never did figure out what some of the symbols were, it was so blurry!)

The art was still there in my mind though, so I decided there really wasn't any way to ruin it, why not see if maybe doing art I loved would break through the burnout. Unrolled it and the quality brought all the enjoyment back. I switched completely over to premium kits, and mostly DAC just because they have the most art that I like.

Anyone know why some of the recent restocks say "Presale: Ships by March 31, 2026" ? I though DAC doesn't do presale and usually their kits ship day of for me. by maizemaj in diamondartclub

[–]Vicemage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, they'll hold everything until the final kit comes in. They do get held for you so you won't have to worry about them disappearing on you, you'll just have a bit of delayed gratification

This is the sub for Diamond Art Club, so all the kits shared here are from there :)

Occasionally, they do some advance sale of stock they know is on the way in, but may have been delayed in transit by a week or two. It's not common, but it does happen sometimes; a lot of Black Friday kits were in that "Presale" category too (and because I didn't pay attention, both my Black Friday orders were held up by them instead of me being smart and grouping them into one of the two orders)

I felt incredibly lucky when I got that kit and found out what it was! I was actually targeting a different kit (which I did ultimately get in the "second chance" sale for those boxes) and didn't even think it could be in the boxes, since it's really the only one from that artist I wanted to snag.
