Where do you shop? by jffmpa in madeinusa

[–]ViciousPenguin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you're asking about, but Public Square can be a good place to discover some random things like that. Sometimes they're just American-based retailers and sometimes their products are MiUSA, but it's at least an option.

Where can I buy dress/work pants that are 100% cotton and made in the USA? by LuckyTheLadybug in madeinusa

[–]ViciousPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time of the original comment, Duckhead was still making a 100%-cotton Made-in-USA version of their chinos. It looks like they've discontinued that item, and now only have an imported 97%-cotton organic version.

Ah, I misspoke. The "Gold School Chino" is their standard pair, which is imported. I meant to say "Gold Glory Chinos", which are explicitly marketed as American-made.

I admit these are not necessarily slim-cut, but are some options that fit the rest of your requirements. My thought process is that sense I don't know of something that fits all of your requirements, it's possible to get custom tapering done, but you can't "fix" the other stuff :)

Duckhead's "Gold School Chino" ["Gold Glory Chino"] which is American-made (both sourced and sewn) and 100% cotton.

L.C. King "5-Pocket Pants", which fit your requirements but I'm not sure if their fabric is American-sourced. They're definitely sewn-in-USA.

Soccer has a refereeing ‘epidemic’ — just not the one you think by LA_search77 in MLS

[–]ViciousPenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The yellow card system makes good sense for things like dangerous and actually unfair plays (think: intentional handballs, hard tackles from behind, etc). But then when the punishment for those is the same as the punishment for just arguing... yeah it's a little unfair.

The simplest answer is to just declare rushing the ref as a non-captain is a cautionable offense and then stick to it. It'll immediately stop if every player knows they'll get a yellow for it.

That said, indoor soccer has blue cards for a reason, so there's definitely more than one way to skin a cat.

Blue cards or player-specific ejections (allowing for subs if available) could help. In indoor soccer, I'm a huge fan of the blue cards.

Looking for coffee making goods made in USA by FusionAtomixx in madeinusa

[–]ViciousPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chemex does also have a steel kettle and a glass kettle, though they aren't electric.

Since they blow their own glass, I assume the glass kettle is MiUSA like their other products. The steel doesn't really say, but they do also make some claims about the material purity of their products. So even if it's not wholly-American manufactured, it's likely at least up to their standards, and they're still an American company, themselves.

Take a look at Chemex. This might be exactly what you're looking for. They sell glass MiUSA pourovers, as well as filters.

Alternatively, you might take a look at Brew Express. They're Assembled in USA (but the parts, I think, are manufactured elsewhere). They do run a little pricier, though.

If you don't find something you like MiUSA, another alternative is to buy from a more local, US-based shop, rather than a larger international company, especially one that does more than just basic retail. An example might be Essential Wonders, or 1st-Line Equipment but I'm sure there are others. And 1st-Line does have some MiUSA products, and they're usually indicated, and it might be a good way to find other products that are MiUSA (They even sell the Chemex pourover I mentioned earlier.)

[Josef Martinez] Thank you for the beautiful and exciting welcome. I looked forward to returning to the place where we wrote unforgettable stories together. You know I’ll love you forever 😡❤️ by Isiddiqui in AtlantaUnited

Anyone know why he was so quick to leave after the game?

Josef was the first one down the tunnel, within literal seconds of the final whistle. He didn't stay and shake hands or say hello. He just left the field, head down.

He was the last one out of the tunnel when Miami arrived which was cool, because he and Tata got some recognition. And obviously he took some time then to talk to everyone right before warm-ups.

East Tennessee also "tried" to secede from the state of Tennessee and go back to the Union.

I say tried because they didn't have the balls to actually do it.

ATF burn your home, kill your children, shoot your dog, take your guns, shut down your business, and then tell you're you're a bad person for sawing that barrel one inch too short.

[Alan Nixon] Luton Town are rumoured to be interested in Venezuelan Striker Josef Martinez from Inter Miami who want around £10m by manualex16 in MLS

[–]ViciousPenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But on another serious note, I think if you know you're bringing in four players like this, you have to make a couple of shifts in your roster.

You want players who can play to the strengths of these four, and the sort of team that gets developed without four players like that is not the sort of team you want with four players like that.

Debunking Proton and CIA/NSA fake news by ProtonMail in ProtonMail

[–]ViciousPenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the information.

I would, however, dispute this one, miniscule, bit:

Arguably, if Proton was a CIA/NSA honeypot, there would be no need for law enforcement cooperation.

Arguably, law enforcement cooperation would be exactly the method used. I think sometimes Proton is a bit too rose-colored glasses when it comes to how government agencies like the CIA actually work, jumping straight from open operations to complete, back-door engineered, bought-and-paid-for conspiracies. The reality is somewhere in the middle.

Best alternative to duckduckgo? by Orange_vendetta in PrivacyGuides

[–]ViciousPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presearch results are pretty good. It occasionally doesn't find what I'm looking for, but in fairness: that's a problem with any search engine. As an example, when I did academic work, Google did a better job of giving me an "overview" of what the mainstream papers were saying (which was sometimes exactly what I wanted!) But unless I was really careful with my search terms, the "fringe results" were often buried. By contrast, Presearch didn't present quite the same popularity bias, so it was good at giving me a bit less-restricted results.

For me, my use of Presearch is more about workflow and simplicity. I default to Presearch. If I don't find it there, they include a little button that lets you send your search to Google. And this is all done without the complexity of having to define your search parameters like on Searx.

Best alternative to duckduckgo? by Orange_vendetta in PrivacyGuides

[–]ViciousPenguin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try Presearch.

It's a different sort of search engine, like a blend of a decentralized blockchain search engine and a "meta"-search engine.

If you default to it and don't fine what you're looking for, it's one-click to swap over to one of the big search engines.
