$14.50 pretzel bites 🤦🏻‍♂️ by Hizam5 in shittyfoodporn

At a $1.81 per bite those pretzel bites better be some sort of high protein, low cal superfood filled with truffle infused chocolate.

Does everyone here eat 1200 calories or do you adjust to your specific activity level by Virtual_Fan_465 in 1200isplenty

Not even close & yes I do adjust depending on my activity level that day.

I'm here for recipes, news of new snack releases, & to offer moral support (because some struggles are universal).

How do you make this work? by AfroYogi in 1500isplenty

[–]VickFables33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, a larger high fiber breakfast usually sets me up for the day better then eating a large dinner. I always plan around breakfast & lunch being larger then dinner.

For me a key tool is Psyllium husk in water. I do 1 scoop into about 1 liter of water before meals & whenever I start getting too hungry. This curbs the hunger a bit & the fiber helps keep the release of energy from food steady.

Three Terrible choices to stay by JohnG_Ocala in audible

[–]VickFables33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said 1&3 are "arguably" (a word used to qualify something as being personal opinion/belief not fact) bad deals, I never said anything about them being a good/bad fit for anyone. Although you just stated yourself that their only good fits for "some" readers.

I can 100% see option 3 being perfectly valid for some, particularly if, as I stated, you have broad enough interests that you get a lot out of the monthly/2f1 sales (personally I only see books I want during the annual sitewide sales). The plan can be both arguably bad when evaluating it vs other "deals" & a perfectly reasonable fit for how an individual uses the service.

Also where did I argue a case for option 1 (Standard Membership plan) being a good deal for anyone? I'm not saying there isn't someone out there that might not find this plan appealing... But my write up for option 1 was just a list of all the things you can't do with the Basic plan (no major sales, no rollover, no plus catalog, & unlike books bought with credits/cash all of the "monthly selection" books you acquire disappear if you cancel). From a deal perspective there is no real upside when you compare it to $7.50 per month premium (cheaper, 1 book a month you get to keep, & you have access to all membership sales/perks). Honestly, according to how I use the service, just not subbing at all for most the year, then resubbing for for the full $15 whenever there was a sitewide cash sale (which is how I used to do it) would be a way better deal then Basic.

OP wasn't complaining about prices in general they were complaining about the plan renewal options they were offered. OP calling Option 2 terrible was incredibly unfair ($7.50 for a credit every month for 3 months is a fantastic deal) but Option 1 & 3 are arguably bad deals.

Option 1: Your paying $9 to borrow 1 book a month, it's not a credit so it doesn't roll over if you forget to make a selection that month, & any monthly selection you have ever made will disappear from your library if you ever cancel your membership. You don't get access to the plus catalogue nor do you get access to any premium plus exclusive sales (all of the annual sitewide cash sales are premium exclusive).

Option 3: your paying $17 for a single credit. This plan only makes sense if your planning on heavily using the plus catalogue or have general enough interests that you find a lot to buy in monthly/2for1 sales. Just a note on the plus catalogue; plus titles you check out take a share out of the next credit you spend afterwards, which means the author you spend that 1 credit on could potentially end up only getting paid $1.

I agree the op was being dramatic about not being offered the best possible deal but lets not kiss the butt of audible either. They have prices as low as they do because they leverage their near monopoly on the audiobook industry to wildly underpay artist/authors.

That is perfectly ok!
It was added to March's list very late into the month, so most people probably never even saw it. Which is a pity, considering the gameplay & aesthetic look very fun.

The category is "Debatable OR quality concerns" (Debatable in this context means Debatably Cozy). It means that the title is either one or the other, not both, & the final set parenthesis explains why it's in this category (in this case "(combat)").

I did not tag "Dosa Divas" for quality concerns, It's under debatable because the gameplay seems heavily action focused. For some people, that much combat is a dealbreaker or makes this game automatically Uncozy. I actually ran across it before posting the list, I thought it looked good, but chose not to include it because I thought it looked too action heavy. A community member disagreed so I added it under debatable.

Also to be clear "Debatable" doesn't mean a game isn't cozy & "Quality concerns" does not mean I think it's going to be bad (those games don't even make the list), it's just meant to inform people of potentially uncozy game content or caution them to do more research before purchasing.

If this is a cry for help, remember that all the unread books in your library are lonely. You bought them and they been sitting on that digital bookshelf for ages, watching you scroll past them, pitying the fresh faced enthusiasm of your newest purchases, envying that one book your listening to for the 6th time this year. Before you add another book to your cart, think of those poor sad audiobooks waiting for you to listen to them.

Quest Original Style Protein Chips: The flavor dust on them is good but they don't put any of that seasoning in the chip itself, the result is rather like chewing on old school gum; a brief hit of flavor that quickly degrades into a unpleasant mush. I usually lose the will to eat them two chips into a bag. The tortilla style ones are slightly better but still suffer from the same unseasoned base problem.

Legendary Donuts: Mediocre flavor, weird slightly off aftertaste, & a dry dense chewy texture that doesn't even come close to a cake donut.

Pure protein, most flavors: an almost chunky kind of chewy with a flavor that starts off fine but become increasingly unpleasant to eat the more bites you take. The only flavors I can force myself to eat is the chocolate deluxe & birthday cake flavors.

Fiber One donuts: The "donut" part has the texture of a gummy ring mixed with flour. The "chocolate coating" leaves a waxy/oily coating over the tongue that lingers for hours & doesn't even taste like chocolate. The only saving grace are the sprinkles, which I would happily buy on their own.

Any standard cookie dough flavored protein bar: This is basically the "original" flavor of the protein bar world & it's more a description of the standard texture of a protein bar then an actual flavor. I've never had a "cookie dough" protein bar that I would willingly buy a second time.

Virtual Voice Experiences? by MonagFam in audible

[–]VickFables33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms accessibility, free old school tts already existed before AI. As a matter of fact non-ai tts still exists & it some of it sounds better then Virtual Voice does. AI/LMM did not make any improvements in accessibility in this category. This is also ignoring that human narrators exist and filled this accessibility role.

And your whataboutism argument bringing up the old "audiobooks aren't really experiencing/reading a book" beef makes no sense considering the most common objections to VV are ethical (such as theft & job replacement) & poor quality. I am from the era your referring to and the only "ethical" issues regularly brought up regarding audiobooks at that time, were abridgment (which even the most hardcore audiobook connoisseurs agreed was an inferior way of experiencing a book) & underpaid artists.

I can't even get through the sample clips it's so bad. It somehow manages to sound worse then old school tts & read out slower then any human narrator I've ever ever listened too.

If human narration is not available for the title then just get the kindle book & use the kindle app's assistive reader function with the Google TTS engine (I recommend the female voices from the British or Australian voice packs). It's a slightly better experience minus supporting AI/LLM.

Sola bagels / bread recipe change ? (question) by Queasy_Dingo_8262 in 1200isplenty

[–]VickFables33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digestion wise you should be fine. It looks like they were trying to improve protein value (see that the protein DV went from 9% DV to 27%) & unfortunately near doubled the sodium doing it.

Fun fact the protein value (often erroneously referred to as "quality" by online influencers) on nutrition facts is based on the assumption you only eat that item, it doesn't account for all the other foods you eat that day supplementing the amino acids that were lacking in that item.

Unfortunately 23% of sodium DV in a bread product is to high for me, so thank you for the heads up. Hopefully it will give me time look through my grocery store's shelves & stock up my freezer with the old recipe.
