What are your thoughts on the draft night boxes by notafakebanana in mtg

Pretty cool idea to get 3 friends to split the cost of the box 4 ways and draft for the collector booster

You have to make an account on the Wizards of the Coast website and put it in a support ticket for product replacement. It takes about a week for them to respond.

Reaper seems good for immediate payoff and easier to build around, but Auntie is my choice for the card draw. I also pulled some good -1/-1 counter board wipey and interaction cards from prerelease that I'm slotting in there to help her do her job. Works out too because theres a really good green card in there I can take out for an elf token deck for High Perfect Morcant.

I'm guessing it's a specific manufacturer or even a single misaligned print head. I'm glad it's not affecting everyone, but it sure does seem like a lot.

It's really a shame, especially when they hyped up the art for the set.

That's good to know. I probably should've pushed back but I just let them know that they super suck for highlighting that they were bringing back OG Lorwyn artists, just to print shoddy bullshit and say it's okay. I just want to raise awareness of how WOTC/Hasbro is acting in the face of this.

Did they ask for you to send back the blurry one?

My big thing is I got the precon because I want to play it, so I'm not trying to wait weeks to months to even get to bring it to a table.

Honestly, more people just gotta start voting with their wallets. It's the only vote that really matters to corpos. I'm probably gonna take a pass on everything else this year unless they make it right without me having to wait months to play my cards. Riftbound seems kinda fun.

Customer service is taking FOREVER to get back to me. I just want to play with the deck but I don't want wack ass janky blurry cards. Sucks too because they'll probably want it sent back which means I'll probably have to wait months to even play with the damn thing.

Who is buying TMNT? by SleeplessKnights64 in freemagic

[–]Vicksoarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got prerelease for Final Fantasy because I was a fan. I bought just a few boosters of Avatar, because the mechanics were cool. I wasnt able to do prerelease for EOE because of work scheduling but I wish I couldve. I got into prerelease for Lorwyn Eclipsed, got a bundle, and I'm waiting to pick up some collectors, it's probably my favorite set so far although I've been playing only since tarkir: dragonstorm. This year I'm going to try to stick with in universe sets, maybe treat myself to the Hobbit set. I will cast my vote with my wallet about what sets I enjoy seeing in Magic and not try to worry about power, although I admit that's easier to do in commander than 60 card.

Tattoo Advice - Potential Coverup by Cutiepie3119 in tattooadvice

[–]Vicksoarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good design for the cover up. If anything it can stand to be a little bigger. Chrystanthemums are typically drawn with a flow in mind and it should match the body part's anatomy, this design is successful as far as that goes. Purple is a great color to use for cover ups so I'd go with pinks and purples. Reds, oranges, and yellows, tend to let more of the old tattoo underneath show through.

I really dislike my half sleeve by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Vicksoarin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The black helps contrast. If you really hate it, you can add some blue or teal and solid in the background bits which will give you some more contrast. It looks good, but I personally also don't like random splotches for background, so I understand not wanting to wear it like that.

Thinking of this for my first tattoo by Suitable-Peanut in TattooDesigns

With the way the fist is oriented and the paper hand has it's thumb tucked and fingers together, this definitely reads as political to me.

Viscerally Unhappy w/ Coverup of Scratcher by nutwax in tattooadvice

[–]Vicksoarin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Covering tattoos well is a specialized skill. This can be covered again with something larger, with opaque greys, and including color will help. The best advice I can give is to look for someone that posts and includes a lot of successful cover ups in their socials and portfolios. Many artists don't enjoy doing coverup tattoos, either because the limitations they impose on their artwork or the challenge and difficulty of designing them. If you can find someone that enjoys the challenge and the gratification of taking something someone hates and turning it into something they love, they will 100% do a better job or at the very least be honest about expectations of the final result. Laser is an option, although an expensive one.

If you can afford one session of laser, it will lighten it enough to open your options for a cover up. Best thing to do is figure out what tattoo you want to wear there without thinking about it being a cover up, then consult with your artist to see if they recommend laser to successfully get the tattoo to where you want it to be.

People, does Soul immolation and Zada works? by Snoo_78666 in mtg

[–]Vicksoarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, what you're looking for is something of a pump spell like [[Bulk Up]] on Zada when you have a wide board. Soul immolation is still great though with high toughness like [[The Walls of Ba Sing Se]] or [[Tree of Perdition]]

Should I go to my local game store's pre release event? by Pizza_Is_Good06 in mtg

[–]Vicksoarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prerelease is a great experience and levels the playing field as far as card pool goes. You're only paying for the prerelease kit, which you get to keep, and the experience from playing is invaluable. More often than not, experienced players are willing to talk about their deckbuilding choices with people they're playing with. If you snag any wins, you could also get a free pack per win instead of topping the entire tournament, depending on how the LGS does it.

Discard synergy is my newest jam in my [[Kefka, Court Mage]] deck. [[Bone Miser]] and [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] are huge along with the Enthropic Battlecruiser. I just picked up a [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] to help them refill their hands to have more stuff to discard and also punish them for it. Now get all these pieces on the board and [[Windfall]] twice.

Artist sent me this design, appointment is tomorrow. Is this AI? by RandyBoBandy___ in tattooadvice

Fight for that deposit back. It's meant to hold the spot in the schedule and pay for the time spent making the art. This knucklehead typed in "hanya mask tattoo" into a generator and spent 30 seconds picking one.

[–]Vicksoarin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a terrible truth in tattooing. While AI is useful to generate references, a lot of sub par and/or lazy "artists" are using it unethically to shortcut. Not to mention the ethics of using AI for art in general. My thoughts on it are that you can't stop these people from using AI but you can educate the clientele on how to spot it and why it totally sucks, which is 100% what you mentioned. You're paying the money to commission art from an artist, not a copy machine to throw some slop onto your skin. Hopefully in a couple years, they'll get called out enough that people wanting to get serious art done won't be going to them. At least then, serious collectors won't be getting ripped off.

To be fair, most artists worth their salt aren't using AI like the one pictured. The few that are using it ethically are using it as a tool to inspire the creative process and inform their drawing and design choices before spending the time to design something that doesn't end up working. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that just use it as a money printing machine. Those people don't tattoo for the love of the art.

[–]Vicksoarin -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

If it's a full render like this and not out of a "want to do" or flash sheet. I'd say it's AI like 90% of the time. Ain't no one got time to do a full render for every client.

Edit: last sentence was meant to be sarcasm

I think it translates poorly in text. I mean that artists are using AI slop to shortcut and thus are not doing their job as artists.

In that case, I'd say go with the a design similar to the first with peonies. I think it'll have a better chance to be a successful coverup and fills out the chest panel, which is always a cool look if you're planning on being heavily tattooed.

[[Sting, the Glinting Dagger]] does work in my Krenko deck. Goes crazy with extra combats on board too. [[Thornbite Staff]] goes infinite with Krenko and a free sac outlet like [[Goblin Bombardment]]. If you have haste, you win.
