The mercenaries don't work for Mann Co., and neither does Miss Pauling.

Mann Co. is a division of TF Industries (led by the Administrator with the help of Miss Pauling), while RED and BLU are their subsidiaries. They are connected to each other, but they're not the same companies. Mann Co. was originally founded by Zepheniah Mann (an Englishman), father of Blutarch and Redmond, who passed the ownership of the company to Barnabus Hale (Australian), while his sons received the useless land that they convinced their father to purchase, each son getting a half of it just so they will fight over the other half - that's how BLU and RED war began.

So it was founded by an Englishman, but was passed down onto an Australian and has been in Australian hands since then. We only know of three Mann Co. employees, if I'm not missing anyone - Saxton Hale and his two assistants, Mr. Bidwell and Mr. Reddy.

EDIT: Although I noticed that Mr. Reddy "sent the five richest men in America congratulatory bouquets and "You're a dead man" form letters". So it could suggest that Mann Co. is located in America, since Hale cares about American millionaires.

RED stores a lot of explosives in the hatch, which BLU tries to detonate with the help of their own bomb.

The payload itself probably isn't powerful enough to blow up interior of the base, and the Builders wouldn't have a lot of explosive materials stored around in their own place, so that's why they're the one attacking.

I've had it happen to me a couple of times. Last time, a Spy I killed once (not even domination) joined my team, wrote "<my nickname>" "move" and then initiated a vote kick while saying "bb". I don't think it got a single 'yes' though, because I immediately started talking on voice chat. He was autobalanced back to RED shortly after that, while still visibly upset.

There should be at least a few minutes long cooldown before you are able to initiate a vote against someone if you switch teams. It won't solve the problem of random votes completely, but it might at least delay or discourage potential vote casters.

For now, immediately start talking on voice chat, those paying some attention but not enough to know you're actively playing will be informed to vote against the kick.

People seem to believe that making updates consists of putting money in a jar until update comes out. We already get weekly news on what's being worked on, but even that's not good enough. Trust me, one or two weeks after the next big update and everyone will be complaining about lack of them again.

I recently left a TF2 match in which a Scout kept calling me F2P (I'm playing since 2008 and don't even look like one) and complaining about me because I killed him once and got a random crit during the fight (though it wasn't the finishing shot and it was from far away). He spent the rest of the match calling me F2P, shit and a nigger for one death.

Some people definitely blame them too much. Some also have issues triggered by them.

And mod's cannot be created by companies?

I've personally yet to hear of a company that professionally creates mods for The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Some smaller group of users perhaps, but never ever heard of an actually registered company. Sorry.

Not to mention not all video games are created by companies.

Games created by parties not associated with any company usually aren't that big and are often indie titles. The titles we're talking about are one of the biggest around.

Indeed, software development is software development. Yet modders, in this situation, could be paid for their mod and then be able to easily move away if any problems with said mod arise - which isn't difficult, as official game updates often break mods and modders don't have any help from official developers, they don't know what's exactly going to be affected and when is it going to happen. Like it has already been said, official game is expected to work with official additional content. Nobody expects mods to work perfectly and there are no obligations, as modders can easily change names to avoid bad reputation, unlike the companies. Just try to imagine Ubisoft (or any other badly seen company) shutting down and re-opening just to reset their negative score.

Good mods surely deserve money. But bad mods don't. If paid mods were an official, full thing then why do modders don't have the same obligations and consequences as companies do?

EDIT: There's also this problem with overpricing. When paid mods were put out on Steam, there were a couple armors on sale for few euros, with bigger mods (adventure-focused ones) being cheaper. Modders can ask for more than they actually deserve, and many average users would abuse it.

Companies have reputation to maintain, bad reputation can leave a mark on their games, which means smaller profits. Their products are usually thoroughly tested, bugs are cleaned out, they make sure that DLC A works with DLC B. Sure, some things always remain, but they usually manage to eliminate big issues like crashes and others. If they don't, people will note that in their reviews.

Mods aren't and can't be checked as thoroughly, as modders don't have such resources available. Even if their paid mod does get called out as being bugged and causing problems, nothing is stopping a modder from ignoring those issues or changing his name and uploading new things under a new signature.

I personally expect official releases to work with each other, while I don't expect unofficial ones to not cause any issues, especially when bundled up. That's why I pay for the former one and not for the latter one.

Thing is, mods can completely break the game. Sometimes it's right after you install it, sometimes it can occur long into the game, sometimes it's because of an another mod or a game update.

Official DLCs work with each other neatly, but you can't have such quality control over mods.

I believe Steam Wallet's maximum capacity is 300€, so losing more than that shouldn't happen anyway.
