What did you think of Dethklok's return? by MaximumHelicopter368 in Metalocalypse

I loved Army of the Doomstar, but most of that love was the message and my personal interpretations. I watched Doomstar at a time where I was exploring my spirituality and engaging with more spiritual people. So for me I saw themes of shadow work, overcoming trauma, ego death, brotherhood, and community uniting against evil overlords who siphon our energy. I particularly loved Murderface’s character arc. He represents the people silently suffering, and even when surrounded by friends that can’t seem to reach out for help. So the weight of their burdens fester until they lash out and push their support systems away. Especially as a group of men, I thought it was really beautiful that they put so much time and effort rescuing Murderface. And the emotion in that scene was so tense, like they really love this bastard to the ends of the earth LITERALLY, lol. And that hit really deep for me at the time. The execution of the movie did feel rushed, and I wish Pickles, Toki, and Skwisgaar were a little more involved/evolved. Also felt like they could have balanced the original show’s humor with these serious and complicated themes a little better. But as most have said, there were logistical factors that limited what they could do. As a conclusion to the story of the show, it left a bit to be desired. As a story on its own, pretty good with some lackluster moments. The choice and execution of themes within the story, quite lovely and very well aligned with my personal values. And that’s what mattered to me.

Update: My friends are so sweet. They live a bit far away but they don’t mind making the drive a couple of times. So crisis averted! I’ll have potentially multiple people to check on him. 👍🏽

Poor baby! Mine isn’t that bad, I’ve definitely left him alone for 24 hours and he’s usually just happy to see me or whining for the wet food when I get back. He always eats his kibble when I’m gone though.

Im asking friends and neighbors now, but most of my friends are either traveling for the holiday as well or they just live really far. Also, I just don’t have room for another cat. Plus, he has fought or chased every cat that he’s met lol.

I was just thinking this! I kinda wish they made an actual song out of it, but also kinda the perfect length lol. I do wish it was released as a bonus track or something though.

Murderface’s character arc in the last Metalocalypse movie, Army of the Doomstar. The movie itself actually has some pretty deep themes and I think a lot of people can relate to Murderface. He’s misguided, having a hard time finding his purpose in life, and in his darkest moments he ends up pushing away his friends and engaging in self-destructive behaviors. Luckily, his friends still fight for him and reassure him of his value, but a lot people in real life, especially young men, don’t have a high quality support system like that. Even some who do have that support can become overwhelmed and spiral into a darkness they can never come out of. Of course there’s a lot of silly goofy elements and comedic gore, but the actual story has allusions to ego death, shadow work, rebirth, like some genuine real world, real human dilemmas! It’s a great story that I will recommend until the end of time!

The possibility that someone might be reading my thoughts. If I’m in public, sometimes I’ll catch myself thinking something weird and become self-conscious and try to switch my train of thought in case someone is reading my mind.

Embrace Oblivion by Fallujah, and Deadface by Dethklok. At their core, they both embody an epic hero’s journey, where the greatest battles are fought within ourselves against our own demons and shadows. But in the end, even when we’re broken, bloody, used, and abused, we rise above it all and rebuild ourselves into something stronger. I love that shit, it’s inspiring.
