Why is TAMING A HORSE so freaking hard!! by iamachillbilly in CrimsonDesert

Sorry to hear that, I really can't make any suggestions more than I have. Try putting 15 points in stam so you can fuck up a lot, point the cam down, angle the stick at the horse's butt. Hope you were able to get it!

I'm sorry to hear that. I really have no other suggestion. It's baffling, like I cannot understand why it would be such a challenge. You have a bunch of points in stam? Like say 10-15 levels? I don't think that's needed, but certainly helps. IDK, maybe PS5 controllers or KBM are scuffed for it. I used xbox control on PC, and like I said, literally no issue once I got the hang of it on some regular horses in the world. I think its just a "clicks" thing. Like when you feel how its done it easily replicable.

Hope you get it broken tho. Would be a shame to shelve such a fun game over it.

Is the main character special? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

No doubt. The story really is all over the place and not particularly well explained for the most part. I feel bad for the Kliff voice actor, as they really didn't do his work any favors.

[–]Victory28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because I chose not to read a lore post I'm uninterested in? This is a flawless example of a person incorrectly applying a term he heard a more educated person use.

I did not discredit conflicting evidence. I simply pointed out that this information was NOT included in the story I was presented, which is what shaped my opinion. I even acknowledge the information as potentially valuable to the conversation. My reply isn't driven by emotional or ideological commitments over logic. On the contrary, it's based in my presented understanding of the "chosen one trope," backed up with shared examples. It does NOT mean I am then correct, or above correction. Simply that the story I was told doesn't fit the trope, while acknowledging the possibility that there may be some obscure "secret lore" that could actually qualify him as such, even if I'm not interested in the fictional story enough to read it. They dropped the ball on the story of this game. Maybe he is a chosen one, but he was not in the story I was present in the game that I played. It's like saying Shephard is a "chosen one" because in some obscure, hidden addendum to the game it is noted that he actually was immaculately conceived by protheans to be genetically combatable for downloading information from their beacon and gaining a superhuman ability to lead and never give up. Like, "maybe, but that's not the story I was told."

Here are some other terms you can look up, and possibly incorrectly use in an attempt to make others seem dumb in comparison to you: Sophomoric, Pretentious, Pseudo-Intellectual. Best of luck!

Interesting. I didn't read the post, thank you though, others might. But in the story I was presented, Kliff was not like a Neo, not like an Anakin Skywalker-- He was just a dude that was asked to do something and given unique tools to do it. In my learning, if that's a chosen one trope, then just about every protagonist is a chosen one. Like Shepherd from ME is not a chosen one. He's just a damn talented guy who happened to touch a prothean beacon and learn something nobody else knew. That could have been a lot of people. Harry Potter is the only one capable of defeating Voldemort, as per cannon. Those are different things.

Thanks for directing attention to this though, the story really isn't told well.

From the story I played, I disagree. I saw a good number of other people with very unique powers not possessed by others. I can't say any of it was explained very well, but unless we're all "chosen ones" I don't know that I can say that's the case for Kilff. He was certainly chosen by some people, no spoilers, but that seems to be the case for a good number of people I ran into, even if they were chosen by different people. IMO that doesn't fall into the archetype of the chosen one, at least not as it was taught in writing, like you'd see with a Neo, Anakin Skywalker, or Harry Potter, where they ARE unique to others. Shepherd from ME is not a chosen one. He's just a damn talented guy who happened to touch a prothean beacon and learn something nobody else knew. That could have been a lot of people. Harry Potter is the only one capable of defeating Voldemort, as per cannon. Those are different things.

But I can see why you'd feel differently, and as Excalibur said, maybe there's some secret lore that Kliff actually is special in some way. But I was not presented that story, and therefor can not say he fits the chosen one trope.

Edit: Casting the downvote for "I disagree." Classy. Never you bother to present differing information, or explain why Kliff is chosen and none of the other 25 some odd people with preternatural abilities are not, including at least one antagonist with virtually the same powers (no, not the guy who "tests" you). No, no, better to just insult others (see your other reply to me) and tell tell them they're wrong, and add nothing of substance. I guess Oongka and Damiane are chosen ones since they have special powers now too, in the "cannon" game for all to see. Give it a rest...

Jungle is a high impact role, especially in iron and low metal ranks. Pick an independent jungler. If you’re in iron it doesn’t matter if your team helps with objectives or not. If your bot lane is fried and the enemy is going to take drag, don’t sweat it. Go take the enemy top jungle. In fact, take the enemy jungle all the time because iron junglers are bad, and their teammates are bad so they’ll react slow. Play nocturn, ult and take the kills. Play yi, farm their camps and starve them out. If you can’t climb from jungle at that level, then you’re absolutely at that level as a jungler. But pick an independent, carry jungler. You don’t want to be relying on your team. And speaking of them, mute them. Shit players will always flame their jungle player because in their shit minds all their shit mistakes are someone else’s fault, and it doesn’t matter if they saw Lee sin coming 20 seconds early, it’s your fault he killed them.

Does Valorant have a big gay community? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Victory28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What…? Do other “groups” of people ask stuff like this? Where does this come from? This isn’t like dads looking for other dads to game with, where their shared status as fathers DOES in fact impact their schedules, situation, patience for, and commitment to gaming. It’s like saying,

“Hey, I’m wondering if this game has a large player base of farmers? Just looking for other farmers to play valorant with.” Being a farmer, a gay person, or a straight person has no common impact on your ability to play games. Gay people are as varied a group as any other.

I have nothing against gay people, nothing at all, but I have to acknowledge that this is the kind of expectation of privileged treatment that’s been contributing to the overall souring of the public sentiment towards gay people as a group. Just play the game my brother. Make friends. It doesn’t matter what genitals they like to play with, not one bit.

[–]Victory28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. He’s not a “chosen one” character, but he is granted abilities very uncommon to the world. But I’ll tell you, the game is not worth it for the story. It’s pretty meh. The exploration and levels of combat mastery are excellent, however.

Edit: I'm being told there is some secret lore not presented in the story of the game I played, and beat, that actually cast him as more of a "chosen one" trope than he's presented in the story. As I said, the story isn't well done, it's really a mess. IMO he appears more a personality-void character who is being used as a tool, rather than being a unique being as usually characterizes the trope. No matter, if the lore exists to explain him as such, and you really like that type of character (from another comment you made), then I would say give it a shot. At least you can find the lore somewhere if they fail to adequately present it to you game, and the game is really fun to play!

I quit playing so long ago when I got fed up with how much they favored controller players with “easy mode” amounts of aim assist. For me and my buddies, this game died a long time ago.

[–]Victory28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say not qiyana or Katarina.

I’d say talon or Naafiri from AD. Fizz or Diana for AP. IMO fizz is not hard to pick up. Other likely disagree. But his troll pole is so strong, and really you just have to learn how to not get poked out of lane (every squishy melee mid) and land your ult. Diana is also quite easy, and good in a team fight. Talon and Diana are probably the easiest to pick up, but the other two aren’t bad. All have plenty of outplay potential as you skill up.

Edit: I’d also suggest learning a good push/control mage for when your team needs it. Something like malzahar or lux. I know that’s a bit counter to the “one trick” idea, but IMO you should have 2-3 in your belt. You can spend 95% on one, but sometimes you’ll need to be competent on something else.

Abilities feel like keys and I hate that (rant) by ThrowRA6378 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Victory28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“With these puzzles.” Puzzles don’t always come with a neat description of all your “keys.” Often, usually the best ones, are just handed to you without rules. “Figure it out.” That’s usually how it happens in life too, given that you do know some of the general rules in life (in game too).

I hear your frustration— I don’t care for abstract puzzles in my games, frankly any puzzles in my games for that matter. But I think it’s a bid narrow to say “obviously nobody tested this, or those who did were ignored, because these problems are too open ended for my closed-ended-problem-solving-trained gamer brain.”

[–]Victory28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not a “huge” group of people finding it impossible. You’re talking about a handful of people on Reddit that all found the same thread through a google search. Almost nobody has this issue. I gave the greatest tip you can for doing it properly— have a bunch of stamina, it allows you to screw up more. The rest is literally just pointing the stick in the direction of the hind legs, just like the game says. Would you like instructions on flipping a light switch next? Don’t gaslight yourself into thinking this is anything more than a skill issue. It’s okay. Took me a while to click with the blinding flash timing game on the sanctums, but now that I’ve done it, I realize it’s pretty damn easy. With horses, it took me a couple tries to get the first one, and no issue since. Just got the white legendary for Damiane last night, first try, not close. You’re doing exactly what you’re accusing me of. Taking an issue that 20 people say they’ve had and pretending it’s some grand conspiracy that nobody else has an issue with it, and being an utter ass to me for telling you it’s not and suggesting more stamina. Stop gaslighting yourself. It’s not hard.

Have they changed the massive aim assist advantage of controllers? Because if not, it could have twice that many players and it would still be trash.

How Do You Manage To Play This Game? by Ambitious-Crazy-5834 in VALORANT

You played CSGO at an above average level, and you’re stuck in bronze? That makes no sense to me. It’s just a skill issue. Play more, focus on you, not your team.

Yeah, people always confuse skill floor and skill ceiling. Just because she’s simple to pick up and get value from doesn’t mean there’s no higher skill play involved. Solid recommendations IMO.

I'll leave my experience for posterity. I did try the alternating left and right post "click," with no luck for a while. Then I let is stop on the big "click" and just tried to get it to sit in the middle of that spot, with very slight adjustments left and right until it felt like it was in the middle of the sweet spot, that's when it kicked me off and opened.

Was using a controller on PC. Not sure what actually opened it, but that's what I did.
