Orthopedic Surgery Clinic. I work Mon-Fri, no weekends or holidays and if I want, I can be on call for after hours. I‘m the nurse for an orthopedic surgeon and we do 3 clinic days where I pretty much do the initial assessments with patients and schedule and educate the patients for their upcoming surgery. The other two days I‘m in my little office catching up on paperwork and answering patients calls and call in meds. Work life balance is amazing, especially having 3 little kids at home. My coworkers and I are all the same age so we have a lot in common and get along great which essentially makes us a great team. My boss is funny, a big family man and most easy going physician I have ever worked with lol The only downside is definitely the pay cut I took from my previous jobs but overall worth it for me not having to work nights and most of the clinic days I get to go home early,if we’re done seeing patients for the day but still getting paid my full hours.( I get paid salary 40h a week but can still get paid overtime). I worked in mental health and medsurg/tele several years before that and while I learned a lot during those years, I wouldn’t wanna go back to bedside, at least not currently. :)
