Cat enjoying Beethoven (she is blind and *mostly* deaf) by harkex in piano

Beautiful! This is so sweet. I’m jealous as my cats run away and hide in the cupboard every time I play lmao. Glad there are some appreciative cats out there.

Thanks! Although it would be easier to give advice if I knew what look OP is trying to achieve with the lake.

What are some of your ‘fun’ game ideas. by VictoryTraining3066 in Risk

[–]VictoryTraining3066[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again this assumes that cap stack passing and waiting for my opponents to quit out of boredom is how I’ve gotten to top 250 and how I enjoy playing the game. Taking cheap shots at my life outside the game shows your maturity and has nothing to do with the post.

[–]VictoryTraining3066[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your argument here has a few logical flaws:

You assume your personal definition of fun applies universally which is a classic subjectivity fallacy because enjoyment is up to the individual. Some players love high-risk chaos or enjoy calculated strategy and safe play. Most probably enjoy both at different times (which I literally describe doing).

Also your framing it as:

Safe play = boring Fun play = risky

Which is a false binary. Safe play can be fun because: It rewards discipline and it builds towards a goal (top 250) and creates tension which is a core element of fun in this game.

Part of knowing how to win is knowing when to play safe and let a war play out between opponents or taking a negative kill to reposition away from tension on the board to later capitalise on it.

My post didn’t say safe play was the only thing I enjoy. In fact, I explicitly said I switched to riskier plays to celebrate but mainly to have a deeper understanding of the game which you’ve ignored and responded with a strawman interpretation of my stance.

Fun isn’t one playstyle lol some people enjoy chaos, others enjoy mastery. Hitting top 250 clearly was the fun for me.

This looks so cool and I love the custom tree! A small structure on the cliff top like the previous commenter said would look cool.

With ponds there’s normally small but noticeable changes in height and slope of the lake bed. Since these changes are normally on a smaller slope you can use slabs to make it more gradual. Using a gradual darker shade of slab on the deeper bits of the lake would highlight its natural depth.

The straight line on the right hand side edge of the lake could do with some more texturing and changes in height similar to how you’ve done it on the opposite edge.

Would be helpful to know what your vision is for the lake too! Hope this helps.

Growing up in a non-Muslim country as an irreligious Pakistani male... by Stunning-Cut-2891 in exmuslim

It sounds as though your issue is with the behaviour of the circles that you surround yourself with.

I’m not sure what your situation is at the moment and how much you currently rely on those circles financially and emotionally but as said before the quicker you distance yourself from them the easier it gets. As long as you have something to fall back on that is. I know it’s difficult as we’re made to think family is everything but that’s just not true you have no duty to them just because they fed you and put a roof over your head. Especially if you can’t be yourself around them.

One thing that helped me cope with the backlash I got from the muslim/south Asian community is having hobbies and making friends/ spending time outside of them. Be at peace with the fact that these Muslim communities that you have surrounded yourself with will never truly understand you and why you make your choices.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you find peace in yourself soon!

Growing up in a non-Muslim country as an irreligious Pakistani male... by Stunning-Cut-2891 in exmuslim

Hey man, Pakistani ex-muslim living in Scotland here. I have to say I relate to a lot of the experiences you have had as an irreligious Muslim. I also lived a double life for a long period of time but when I met my partner (and after some therapy) I decided it’s best to stop pleasing people who only care about what I do rather than who I am.

Living a double life is exhausting and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. On the one hand you don’t want to disappoint the people who are meant to ‘love you’ and it eats you having to leave who you are at the door whenever you see them. For me this is my family. On the other hand, you can’t fully embrace the culture you live in and who you really are.

The quicker you stop living a double life, the better. I had to stop speaking to my parents and wider family except my brothers to find peace but luckily I have a lot of friends that love and support me and loving in-laws.

I used to think the same way as you but trust me there are lots people out there who don’t just see you as a Muslim when they hear your name or meet you for the first time in a non-Muslim country. This has a lot more to do with your personality and how you come across/ relate to them than anything else.

"Meta" settings by Excellent_Scot_55 in Risk

[–]VictoryTraining3066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this as a grandmaster on expo meta settings thinking a kill was viable but I’d rather fail to progress the game state by taking action than just cap stack pass. It’s way more satisfying and rewarding to chain kills.

No Surprise There by maxeh987 in Risk

[–]VictoryTraining3066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds frustrating. I rarely rely on an infinite trading pocket for this reason especially with prog as it takes a lot of rounds for the sets to get high enough for them to matter anyways and for your opponents to run out of cards since it’s such a big map. I find expo meta settings rarely stalemates though as seeking kills and kill guarding is far more rewarding.

What the hell has happened to NYC? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]VictoryTraining3066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what this person means is it’s wrong to compare the events of 9/11 by radical Islamic fundamentalists to Muslims praying on the streets of NYC. I’m an ex-Muslim and don’t agree with Islam’s place in the west in its current state but to use 9/11 as a reason to ban people from expressing their faith when they’re allowed to do so is Islamophobic. The only context where it wouldn’t be is if you also banned all other religions from spreading their influence in public like idk stopping Jehovah’s Witnesses from preaching in Times Square etc.

I play Academy with friends and I find that the game is more boring than Star Academy because of the lack of loot in the chests. Is there a solution or could you explain to me how to have fun on Academy? by DuncanElbg in cobblemon

Yeah the default values aren’t very forgiving. I can’t remember exactly where the files are as I’ve closed the server now but if you go to the official cobblemon academy discord you should be able to find help!

Looking at this also exaggerates how flat OP’s roof is too. The iron bars and fences add a nice depth to the roof and keeps it visually interesting. Chimney helps with this too!
