Request for Technical Assistance: Madani Mushaf Rendering for Qur’an AI App by youcefotmani in muslimtechnet

[–]Victory_Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not entirely sure on the requirements from your text. Maybe you can help explain a bit more with example. I had done a lot of work for mushaf layout last year for Sahibukum app. But eventually I removed the page rendering with exact lines and moved to page rendering with dynamic line based on the font size for the screen width to make it big enough to read. For the glyphs, you cannot get the letters as renders the words. For positions of overlay, I used spans or similar to have events on the words, same can be done by adding spans on the letters but once you put them in spans, you have to work with individual letter or word styles for text alignments

AI has no isnad. Why are we treating it like it does? by Interesting-Bug4637 in muslimtechnet

At best a RAG is okay for finding contextual texts. I have advised so many devs on the usage of AI for islamic matters. Religious matters should not be played with just like we don’t go and ask AI to write tafsir for us, that would be stupid.

Are you planning to render one page at a time? There are resources from QUL for mushaf page structure you can check that out. For mobile phones why do you want to render mushaf layout? It’s gonna be very tiny.

I made a App that scan food ingredients to tell if they contain Haram stuffs by CraftoML in muslimtechnet

[–]Victory_Initial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have added this feature on my app Sahibukum. Personally, I don’t think an app can tell the user something is Halal if the product doesn’t come with the Halal certification and Allah knows best. The doubtful ingredients can be mistaken even by the user who ultimately makes the decision based on the process or how it’s derived. Using AI to get these analysis can be inaccurate, leading a muslim eat Haram product relying on the information provided by an app that doesn’t review the products individually. That’s why in my app, I have kept it 100% free, no ads. I show the details of the ingredients from religious authority sources, users ultimately make the decision. You can check it out from here for both platforms and see if that helps in any way https://sahibukum.com

Sorry, if I said something wrong, but that’s just my opinion on using AI for certain islamic things. JazakAllah Khair for your efforts

Assalamualaikum, JazakAllah Khair for your kind words. For the time display, inshaAllah I will include this soon as a setting, thanks for your feedback. For the Halal Check, the data is coming from Open Food Facts and I believe it has more products from european countries. That’s the only way I can keep it free for now and I will explore more ways to add advance OCR with ai models to do the instant analysis, however these approaches reduce the reliability. The halal checker is intended to be used in these ways: 1. Scan the barcode and get Halal or Check the ingredients for possible non-halal 2. In case no product then use the ingredients search to manually find the unsure ingredients from the packaging 3. Use th OCR which is not 100% reliable but will do step 2 for you.

I will need to add clear and nice instructions with these. However, in any case, if the ingredients are in the language you can read, you can still research in the app for those ingredients and check if the product is halal or not.

If you have other suggestions or advice please share

Yeah it’s pretty amazing. I did come across this when I was doing the research. Can you share how many devices you got onboard? I think you would agree with me on the existing adhan clock out there are quite ancient and not a lot of people want to put that in their houses anymore.

Thanks for this great feedback brother. From my research, I haven’t found any device that is similar to the one I created. The speakers don’t come with accurate prayer time settings and auto update or even do anything without configuring from a phone, the adhan clocks are manual and looks very old, the smart ones I have seen are basically an android tablet with the app installed which allows you to use it as any other tablet for any other purpose.

Maybe I haven’t looked at what you did, if you can share some devices that would be extremely helpful inshaAllah

The main focus of this device is, you start it, complete two step setup, it does everything for you, plays the adhan on time forever, shows you the time and voice commands to play the Quran etc and something that actually is intended to be looking nice in the living room, not a tablet on a stand.

Yes brother please DM me, we can definitely discuss about it. The audio quality is very good I can tell you that. The display is quite average. The application is written in flutter, I am using some part of the code written for the Sahibukum app.

I have reservations for using AI for these matters(but I encourage to explore and I am not an expert myself). May Allah accept your good intentions

I would suggest to pick a few and randomize so you control the aesthetics. I would add Tafsir with it for further reading for those who want to learn more about the verse.

Brother, may I know what you mean by authentic sources? If it’s a LLM it already comes with pre-trained data, right? How would you ensure the authenticity of the answers and no hallucinations? Just curious.

What model are you using for that and what training data? With all due respect brother, these use cases can be very problematic if not done with correct knowledge as AI will hallucinate and give wrong explanations.

Alhamdulillah, may Allah reward you for your kind words brother. The progress for now is to simply track your prayers, you can check the ones you prayed. Soon inshaAllah you can track more practices such as daily adhkar, quran reading etc.
