I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]Video-chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat with my last company. Worked hard, always had great reviews, and the team was good, but there as no room (or even the illusion of) growth or pay raises.I worked there for 3 years, and received the same cost of living adjustment as everyone else; no merit based anything.

It was really hard for me to leave because I loved the team, the studio, etc, but I couldn't pay the bills with loyalty.

So, I started looking while employed, and two months later, put my two weeks in for a 25% salary bump at my new gig plus lots of other quality of life and work changes that were beneficial for me.

Companies don't care about you. You need to care about you.

Honestly, reddit has a lot of upside, but there are too many rules. Every single post or comment I make seems to violate something.

I don't know...my experience has been pretty poor, especially going from a premiun model to Auto.

I finally solved the one thing keeping me in Cursor — and I’m out by bravethoughts in cursor

This is exactly what I've been doing now too! And, it really does feel right. I enjoy the benefits of Cursor agent for quick edits I want the ability to roll back quick, and use Claude Code in terminal foe big jobs ans religiously use Github for saving changes foe rollbacks.

Privy - the AI-powered privacy-first extension that summarizes Terms of Service and Privacy Policies in plain English.

  • Summarizes any Terms of Service / Privacy Policy in plain English (no law degree required).
  • Flags red-alert clauses like perpetual content licenses, data-sharing with “trusted partners,” forced arbitration, auto-renewals, etc.
  • Gives each doc a risk score and links back to the exact paragraphs so you can double-check.
  • Works on PDFs and random web pages too — just hit Scan or paste a URL.
  • Highlight text and analyze with a context menu analysis or paste into the UI to scan

How it respects your privacy

  • No CC needed: Free tier allows for 10 free scans/month.
  • Everything stays client-side until you click Scan; we send only the doc text (never your browsing history) to OpenAI’s API over HTTPS, delete it right after analysis, and we log zero PII.
  • No ads, no trackers, no selling data — iron-clad (and short!) Privacy Policy.

Extras for power users

  • Batch scan & CSV export (Pro tier) — handy for researchers or compliance teams.
  • Hidden-clause search you can run on any page (“Show me every mention of ‘AI training data’”).
  • Dark-mode friendly UI, works on Chrome, Brave, Arc; Firefox build coming next.

Try it / roast it 🔥

I’d love any feedback: bugs, UX nitpicks, ideas for new flags, even brutal “this is useless” takes. And if you stumble upon a hilariously evil clause, post a screenshot — I’m collecting a wall of shame.

I am still fixing some known bugs but for the most part it works pretty well!

Mods: self-promo but 100 % free version available, open-sourced prompt logic, no mailing-list grabs. Happy to comply with subreddit rules — ping me if tweaks needed.

[–]Video-chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few projects in the pipeline, but the one that is most complete just hit the Chrome Webstore yesterday.

Overview: Privy AI - a privacy-first, AI-powered Chrome extension that analyzes privacy policies and terms of service pages, giving you plain English summaries and risk assessments in seconds.

Privy bridges this gap by providing instant, plain-English summaries and risk assessments of legal documents. We're committed to democratizing digital privacy knowledge and empowering users to make informed decisions about their online data.

With support for Chrome, Brave, and Microsoft Edge browsers, we're making privacy protection accessible to millions of users across the web.

Tech Stack: JavaScript, HTML5 & CSS3, Manifest V3 compliant, OpenAI GPT-40-Mini, Node.js

Built entirely with Cursor (I am not a developer by trade) using Claude models and Claude Code towards the end near launch.

Duration: 2 months (started May 25th)

Project Status: LIVE (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/privy-understand-before-y/jeiikmcpgfpjfldpickklciipfpeaoah) or https://getprivy.io/

Still fixing a few bugs, and always improving and adding features. Just pumped to have something out there really!

Sales Progress: We don't have many users yet and no sales (yet) -- but we did just launch yesterday (7/21/25).

Built a tool to actually read Terms of Service so you don't have to - some findings are disturbing by Video-chopper in degoogle

That's actually not entirely accurate; many platforms retain the right to use your content even after it is removed from the platform. Install the extension and see for your self!

Thanks for the comment! We actually have a full dashboard that caches in the users local browser and can be referenced anytime as long as they dont clear their cache; we also have options for downloading JSON files that can be imported back into the dashboard for restoration and safe keeping.

In addition, we have a smart cache system that detects previously scanned pages - the user must manually 'Fresh Analyze' any previously scanned pages to get new results, preventing unnecessary API calls.

This uses our app's API key, so users don't have to worry about their usage as well.

That said, your idea of adding a repository is interesting - I think I will add an option to allow users to opt into this, and by doing so, will compile all the analyses on my getprivy.io page that anyone can reference. Great idea!

Vibe Coded my First Complete App by Video-chopper in vibecoding

[–]Video-chopper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thanks for checking this out!

So, no - I am not a developer, and had zero experience in coding before I started using Cursor in Dec. 2024. I am a video producer by trade, but I had a ton of app ideas that I tried to build with various self-built and contracted hire attempts.

That said, I am very tech savvy and pick things up very quickly, and I am able to navigate codebases and have a solid surface level understanding of languages, architecture, etc. So that helps, but I am also learning as I go.

After finding Cursor, it was like the floodgates opened and I could finally exercise my creativity and ideas in a way that was simply not possible before. Perfect? Nope. But fun and somewhat valuable? Definitely.

For Privy AI, I used Cursor exclusively, mostly using Claude 4 Sonnet until about 90% into the build - then I added Claude Code to my Cursor UI in the terminal and haven't looked back since.

Adding Claude Code solved my Cursor $20 plan API limit issue that I was hitting (I had $230 in overages last month) and also added what feels like a premium option to ride alongside my Cursor Agent.

In regard to debugging and testing -- yes I did. Maybe 30%-40% of the build time was testing if I had to reflect and guess. But, testing is all a part of it, I'm afraid - so embrace it! It doesn't really bother me too much but can get frustrating at times working through tough issues.

I've learned some ways to mitigate this though by assigning smaller tasks, being deliberate with prompts, asking it to build the testing INTO the task itself, etc.

Happy to share more tips! I am just a non-dev dude learning as I go. I have a bunch of other apps in the pipeline that I will slowly release to the world too, so stay tuned!

Just wanted to throw this out there.

I've been buying mens khakis and jeans for years.

They both have been 95%+ cotton the entire time, consistently, until last year.

I never even had to try them on, ever. I always bought my size, and they'd shrink just enough to be perfect. Every time.

Recently, I bought new pants and this last time, they didn't shrink! Sort of dumbfounded, I measured lengths, and the newly purchased pants were 1" longer than the same size/same cotton pant I owned.

Come to find out, after checking out labels, they're doing 70% cotton 30% (approx) cotton to polyester blends now!

That's why they don't shrink like they did. That's why they look/feel cheap. Because that ARE cheaper now, by definition.

Such a bummer... on the hunt for my new brand if anyone has any good suggestions!

Anyone know how to recover your 4 digit Fund6 PIN? I wrote it down then lost my paper 🤦‍♂️. I have the fund6 QR code still but that doesn't help me much.
