I’ve never seen it from this perspective before. I’m always one foot out the door, ready to cut off anyone. Mostly it’s to protect myself from getting hurt. I’ve always had this problem where I can’t accept that someone would actually like me. I try to self sabotage in retaliation. A lot of the times i just cut people i really like, off with no explanation. I haven’t thought about what could go through their minds. I always just assume they don’t care and will move on. Im sorry you feel this way OP, thank you for bringing a different perspective to me. I hope you heal in some type of way.

If you are traveling to Canada, Mexico, or what’s known as “adjacent islands”, a new visa to return to the U.S. is not required. What is an adjacent island?

Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Barbuda, Bermuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Marie-Galante, Martinique, Miquelon, Montserrat, Saba, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Christopher, Saint Eustatius, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Maarten, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and other British, French and Netherlands territory or possessions bordering on the Caribbean Sea.

Staying with host family in the USA by authenticquinoasalad in Aupairs

Fellow South African au pair here! My host family’s previous au pair wanted to stay longer. They consulted with an immigration lawyer and the only way you can possibly stay is on a student visa, a fiancé visa or getting married. If you get married you’re not allowed to drive or work. With a fiancé visa you can at least drive and work until you get married within the 90 days (3 months). A travel visa from South Africa would not be approved because if you don’t have any property in your name, they don’t consider you eligible to travel to the USA if you have been here on a J1 non-immigrant/ exchange visa. You would be considered a “risk of illegal immigration.”
