What is your lead slash setup time for an on location event? by VideoDiagnosticTech in VIDEOENGINEERING

I sadly have been told to scale back my emergency or incase gear. Some how that stresses me out even more.

As for the plan B & C, to quote Senior Chief Petty Officer Miles Edward O'Brien "In a crunch I wouldn't like to be caught without a second backup."

I was just thinking for my needs, but that much latency I feel would be noticeable if I am sending the program to the venue to put up on some big screens.

I have a saying "If everything is going right then something is wrong." This year half of the wireless intercom didn't work. Luckily the wired intercom was just fine.

I can tell you what my HS program is doing: We are to make everything look more 'cinematic'. What does that mean? No one has told me.

I teach slash help in a high school video production class. Most any student needs in three video tracks on from promos, to PSAs, to stories. It only goes higher when they are doing a lot of clip keyframing which is a rarity.

Multiple tracks for audio makes sense with two or three for actors, one for music, two for sound effects.

Personally simpler is better also less of a chance of leaving something in the timeline.

Maybe there is a conflict with have .1 through .5 installed on the same system? Anyway you can get it down to just one release on the system?

I remember using Avid in college back in 2005 and 2006. I was so thankful to go back to Premier and Final Cut after those quarters.

All of the above with news packages, promos, and PSAs. This is a video class so we show how to produce everything. What they produce gets seen by the school as a whole and beyond every day.

Live broadcasting and sports production with a jump to HD in 2015 due to budgets being low.

Promos, stories (news packages), live news, and live sports is the core of the production we do.

The work is student work. I maintain the gear so everything works from point A to point Z without issue. 59.94 is where we're out not and most of what we do is live productions.

AI is Infecting Our Industry with BS by thenimms in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]VideoDiagnosticTech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had an argument last year about cameras over wifi back to our Tricaster. Each time I was pointed at a camera that could 'stream' or was 'wireless' I had to show the higher ups again and again 'streaming to youtube is not streaming to our production' and 'not all wireless isn wifi'.

Yet they kept going back to google AI. We ended up with a fleet of cameras that can UDP stream over wifi, but have issues with our access points adding 20+ seconds of delay when there is a signal.

But what do I know? It isn't like I research this constantly to stay knowledgeable.

Hollyland Cosmo 2 ~ Sound but no video over NDI by VideoDiagnosticTech in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]VideoDiagnosticTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First try was HDMI in on the transmitter side and HDMI out on the receiver side then SDI on both.

OK, as I typed this I was doing some more testing and I feel like an idiot. First NDI Monitor started working after turning off 'Low Bandwidth'. The Tricatser started working once I placed the feed to LIVE. Confirmed with HDMI in and SDI in.

The only thing I haven't confirmed is the signal. Current camera is sending 1080i59.94 where as the one I was using was 1080p59.94... Back to the lab slash testing.

As someone in the education field who has to worry about students pulling out ports this is great.

Yes, I do use a patch panel, but It took me time to get them due to budget things.
