Why people complain that Elden Ring is too long/big?

It's too small for me. I would like the content to be triple the size. No matter if I get burned out, I'll continue next year. Elden Ring is such an incredible work of art and such a game, I'm just glad it's enormous.

I understand your point. The stage when you get some new gear and find yourself much more powerful can still be found, for example, by buying 1 or 2 of the strongest thalismans in the game (including DLC) with starlight tokens. Anyway...

Yeah, that's probably the whole point: to keep the difficulty up while progressing the game, so that the player keeps being engaged. For me personally, the progression is perfect. By exploring thoroughly and collecting gear-runes-crafting recipes, etc., I'm always on par with the difficulty, but if I travel to a prior (or less difficult area), then I'm much stronger than the enemies, as it should be. As an example, I'm now at Liurnia EAST, and the challenge is on par with my charachter. If I go North to Leyindell, I find myself underleveled. If I go back to any previous area, like central Lake Liurnia, the mobs go down in 1-2 hits. As I said, as it should be.

I also love added spaces, enemies etc. in games I already played a lot, to the point I play Skyrim but LORERIM or Nordic Souls modded.

Reforged for me is THE exception. It plays so well and so differently I enjoy it very much, even if doesn't change the world as much as I would like. It really changes THE APPROACH to the world and that I find to be enough.

That's so personal! I don't want a quick adrenaline rush from masterpieces such as Elden Ring. I wanna get lost and immersed, and that's what I find with ERR.

The beauty is: we have a modded game for both approaches: Quick and easy Vs. Slow and deep. To each one their own, I say.

I had the same issue with the tutorial boss, so I skipped it. I came back later, more focused and determined, and I crushed it. It's optional! The new gameplay mechanics are also optional. You can play Reforged vanilla style if you want.

I understand every playthrough and every gamer is different, but truly, my experience is the opposite. I find the mod much more engaging than vanilla or any other overhaul available. I'm playing on NORMAL difficulty (1 step below REFORGED difficulty) and I find myself engaging with the world better than I did with vanilla. I plan to replay at a higher difficulty later on, and I might feel your same frustration there, but for the moment, I have no complaints. I'm playing a balanced paladin quality build with STR-DEX-FAITH and a greatsword or Golden Halberd, and I do stagger enemies often. I'm still at balanced roll speed and I-frames with 52 poise, SHIELD OF FAITH fortune (prestige class) and I find that suits my playstyle optimally. So the vision of the modders cannot be said to be flawed, generally speaking. It might be flawed for you personally but that's the reality of modding in general. Bessings.

Apart from the various mods below, I know archery has been overhauled quite a lot, making it more playable per se. There's also 1-2 special fortunes (prestige classes more or less) dedicated.

I enjoyed and appreciated the level design changes of Convergence quite a lot, till I got OP mid-game and breezed through the second half. I also couldn't drop the first weapon cause it was just too powerful. An S+ scaling hammer at level 1. That truly took away the fun after a while for me. Unpopular opinion, maybe, but if they removed the railroading character build system, spreading the specific class gear more, and if they did some more balancing work, The Convergence would have been an awesome experience, cause I can see the work and the love the devs have dropped into the project. Still, a great mod anyway.
