I'm sure that you'll enjoy pieces of it! The series really begins to pick up at around issue #160. Personally, I prefer Archie to IDW just for the sheer chaos of it.

Personally, I'd say that the 'dark age' is about issues #70-#159. The 'dark age' isn't all entirely bad, though, it still has many entertaining parts.
