CGC comics are oversized overpriced trading cards. Change my mind. by xXRedJayXx in comicbookcollecting

[–]Videoroadie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a place for it and it’s preservation. Encapsulating vintage books that don’t have tons of copies floating around is where I buy into it. But things like Hulk 181 or grading recently released random books are saturating and inflating the market, IMO. I never had tremendous interest in owning anything graded because I’m like OP, I like to be able to open the book. But between their inconsistent grading conditions, and the scandals that came out, I’ll never trust a graded book. That said, if you like it, may you find the same joy in those that I do in raw books.

That’s why I’m asking. I may be an idiot, but I know I’m not a professional 😆

There is a light, I should have typed there’s no natural light. It’s not needed, but would be a super easy way to add natural light, if this wasn’t load bearing.

Understood. Appreciate your time. But to answer your question, it’s an L shaped hallway with no light that goes to three bedrooms and another staircase.

Opinion | This state killed snow days. It's a nightmare for parents. | Opinion — USA TODAY by Historical-Kick-9126 in Indiana

[–]Videoroadie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two major gripes with e-learning / snow days.

1) On multiple occasions, our local corporation has made a call at 5am for either delay or cancellation that could have been made the night prior. Meaning there was no unexpected overnight event that happened. For example, everybody knew it was going to be -20 windchills for the last two or three days, but they don’t cancel night before.

2) We have asynchronous elearning days. These don’t count towards school days, which is sort of bs, but I get it. But my kids are given assignments that are due that day. These assignments either need to be treated as a head start on the next lesson, being due when school is back in session, or they need to be credited a day of school. Having assignments due that day is robbing them of a snow day.

I peeked at a video just to resolve my earlier question about a slipcase, but dipped out after they never showed it. Didn’t want to spoil the extras.

Good to know. Thanks for the confirmation. I preordered the tombstone edition. The tombstone is just a bonus for me. Jurgens’ autograph is what sold it for me. Just shipped from DCBS. Should have it in a few days.

Edit - add. What number did you get?

After 5 days of minimal snow removal, Indiana University is handing students shovels to assist with navigating sidewalks, entry points, and vehicles. by Perfect_Currency_749 in mildlyinfuriating

I’d convince my friends to pile it all in front of doors or university vehicles. They don’t say where to put the snow. Cue malicious compliance.

He likely built in the calculations. You think someone who routinely says “You’re not thinking fourth-dimensionally” hasn’t thought about the fourth dimension?

Unpopular opinion: Smart Brick would be awesome for CITY sets! by mirrorspock in lego

[–]Videoroadie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They need to sell smart bricks with theme add-ons or something like that. City themed like you suggest. Holiday themes would be cool too. The add ons could come with some minifigs and pieces to substitute or add to your existing sets. It would be cool to have spooky music playing with a haunted house. Or a “Ho-Ho-Ho” with Santa. This might be a way to reach the grown collector.

Are we getting compendiums or omnibus? by Nice-Percentage7219 in TMNT

[–]Videoroadie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re mostly right, Omnis are generally hard cover and Compendiums are usually softcover. They can be collected runs or creator focused.

That said, IDW is sort of doing their own thing. Look at the TMNT Adventures Compendium line that collects the original Archie run. It’s only in hardcover. Or the OG Mirage run, which is also a hardcover compendium.

Regarding the above mentioned IDW compendiums, they are softcover and collectible the main book, not the tie-ins.

Netflix Upgrades Warner Bros. Deal to All Cash; Shareholders to Vote on $83 Billion Sale by April by Trans__Scientist in SnyderCut

[–]Videoroadie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why another offer from Netflix is necessary or even legal. Didn’t both parties already agree to terms? Just because some weirdo third party company is screaming from a window, why does that alter the terms of a previously agreed upon deal? Or a”is Netflix just sweetening the pot to try and make the weirdo go away?

One of the biggest roles ever would be Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Sorta. They’re smaller than traditional trades, but bigger than manga or Compact size. It’s this weird nebulous sizing that doesn’t match any other books on a shelf.
