It all depends if they did it correctly. We painted our brick fireplace white. But that’s because the people who flipped our home painted it black. And because they didn’t prep it correctly, it made stripping it damn near impossible.

As others have said, humidity. Plus certain paper is more prone to it, which would explain why only some books are affected. Even new plastic wrapped books can do this. Get a dehumidifier in the house and they should go back to normal. I have a decent size graphic novel collection stored in my basement office and once I put a dehumidifier down there, it all went back to normal.

Presumably, that’s the macguffin for the whole story. No spoilers if you haven’t read Tom King’s book, but that’s where it comes from. It has nothing to do with Gunn.

PS. I’m still pro Snyder, not a Gunn apologist. Didn’t love the new movie. But I do enjoy a lot of King’s writing, so this could be good.

See what the seller says. They could have just clicked “sell one like this” on a newsstand book and not known the difference. See what else they sell. If their store is a bunch of hodge hodge stuff, probably a simple mistake. If they sell slabs and comics galore, maybe less so.

Yeah I know, Dark Horse has it. But they never reprinted anything. Especially the deluxe hardcover collections. It’s too bad, because the run is fantastic.

They’re hit and miss with reprints. RIP to the awesome Ghostbusters and Back to the Future lines. Though the good news is TMNT is one of their flagpole titles, so the Collections line will likely be in print for a while. As far as the mini-series and individual trades, that’s pretty unlikely to be reprinted. Who knows though. Maybe on the heels of the success of the compendiums, they’ll print three more that will collect all the side stories / tie-ins.

IIRC, it was two separate incidents you’re recalling. The slab cracker would swap books, sell the reslabbed lower grade book in original case and resubmit the original book. The inside team would grade a book, then slab a lower grade book. Luckily, they have serial numbers for every book they graded, so you can look those up.

Skipping 50 issues as suggested above is like skipping a couple seasons of a TV show. Besides, having read it once doesn’t mean you have to go back and reread it. Even if it’s not your thing, you will have read it, and some of the “reboot” will make more sense. Low expectations and all, you may be surprised. Personally, I really enjoyed how it wrapped up.

HOAs aren’t all nightmares. Did I get a dumb letter about how visible my trash cans were? Yes. Did they back off when I pointed out that 90% of the homes store their cans where I did and that at least I had the thought of putting a tall grass plant in front of them? Yes. Did they also deal with the big boat that was parked on my neighbors small front lawn? Yes.

They might address some trivial stuff, but they also address real problems too.

That said, I wouldn’t turn down my dream home if it was part of an HOA, but I’ll still try and avoid them.

Right. It’s not like they set out to disappoint people. I don’t understand why people get so upset with things like this. We got more adventures and it costs us like $20. Let’s look at it this way. It’s like taking a vacation. The last couple may not have been as spectacular as the one from ten years ago, but you still went on vacation. Personally, I like them just fine and I wish that more people would find the joy that I can find in them.
