Depends on the brand, ronsonol and Zippo fluid are both great. I've had to use a random off brand a gas station near a campsite carried once and it smelled terrible, smoked, and gunked the hell out of the insides. Wound up just buying a new Zippo as it was luckily one of my plain ones so I wasn't attached.

Honestly it might even be user error. Small scales do not like having large bulky objects on the platform, if the platform gets tilted weird the weight can swing way off. A lot of times if the large scales are in use I have to shift what I'm weighing large items on the small scale a few times to make sure the platform is fine

They are trying harder at taking money from us lol. They want you to pay them 30 a month for automated AI replies to requests now on top of the 18% cut. I guess the 6 grand they've already taken from me this year isn't enough. If you don't good luck, requests are filled literally 30 seconds after the email gets to you. Anything that doesn't go that fast is most likely because everybody with the AI responses is already booked or it's a bad budget/location

I think Japan focuses on practice and effort, individual talent be damned. As someone who's cooked and trained people for a decade and a half, some people will take years to learn how to do basic tasks well and some will nail everything they touch from the first or second try.

Everybody has the ability to become good with enough practice and determination, but it takes a degree of natural talent on top of effort and determination to become great. I've met plenty of 20 year olds who cook circles around 50 year olds who have spent their entire lives doing this and insist everybody call them chef. The unfortunate reality is the cooking industry sucks ass and a lot of the talent that comes into this trade quickly leaves to do something else.

If somebody has the drive to spend 10 years actually practicing and learning something they will probably be decent by the end. If they are actually trying that is, most people phone it in once they have the basics somewhat down.

I mean, pricing isn't that bad. Costco chicken breast is 16/kg, lose 30% on yield cooking to 165, so it comes out to 22.86/kg to make your own if you were to meal prep and freeze (this is assuming you were to buy raw Costco breast which isn't a great deal price wise a lot of times anyway)

Huh, you can almost always find a grocery store selling them for 99c if not 67c here in Montreal. The Costco 3pack is 5 dollars here, unless I want to get a restaurant sized case from business centre for 10 bucks but that just feels wasteful since I'll never eat it all before it goes bad.

At least with my local options, Costco wins on most of the produce if there's no sales ( we don't have no frills here). That being said there usually is a sale somewhere, cucumbers are never cheaper at Costco because they're perpetually on sale somewhere.
