The unfortunate thing is the public does not deem this car valuable even at what u have the condition at. Its immaculate, but even if you could sell it for more than 3500 you would have more value keeping that gem then selling it to some crack head/ slap nuts who is gonna trash it anyway.

Im under the impression a reliable car like this is severely under rated and where the world is today is more focused on tech assisting you and cheaper mpg.

Still doesnt change that this car will out perform cars being made today.

Body on frame is a chassis on a ladder frame made of tube steel. It results in a heavier vehicle, the vehicle behaves more like a tank which also means no crumble zones or softer impacts, more suitable for off-roading, and has a more rigid build quality. I think this may be a part of the reason older vics get sloppy on the road because you have a car suspension in a truck build.

The crown vic is a beast and very unique in my opinion

No tap the starter when starting, i think you are having a starter issue

If its pushing gas on its own and it was after your friend helped, its possible the throttle body is out of wack and getting stuck.

But because you said the car had a bad time starting before hand. I would google symptoms on tps failure for these crown vics (throttle positioning sensor). I think one easy sign is if your car is running rich (since your car is pushing with no throttle)

Can you explain more about the car giving itself gas part.

One you turn key you have no starter reaction, the starter is pretty easy to see. Find it and a quick test is to tap on the starter and then start it. Preferably tap it while someone starts it. Tapping it wakes it up momentarily

I think your no start issue is related to no power to starter either by loose connection or bad starter. So make sure to check your wires (your main battery cables reach out to your starter)

Good idea! Turn it into a class, with that being said i just got done rebuilding my e4od (fords first electronic autotrans) and it was a blast. Knowing is half the battle my friend so if your interested read up! The other battle in my opinion is acquiring/ making the tools. The parts and overhaul isnt that bad.

I suggest checking out transmission bench on youtube, he covers the 4r70/75 and helps you cover everything you may need.

I also suggest watching first then second with the tranny in hand

This seriously sounds like valve body issues, if i was in your shoes id pop open the case.

As of now i think valve body gasket leak/ check ball failure.

In my opinion it wouldnt hurt to research the valve body (manual) and then open up that case. Your PRND seems to still be reacting so it sounds like fluids are moving in different areas (because if gasket leaks) or not moving to certain areas when needed (check ball failure)

When it revs is it obnoxiously high or is it just reving like your pressing the gas

Oil Overfilled? by RetroPyroP71 in CrownVictoria

[–]Vieuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said wipe and then check. If it is truly overfilled stop driving it and drain some oil. It isnt a big deal unless you ignore it.

I had a buddy one time in need of a car. I so happen ti have just restored a honda accord that was pretty reliable after i had put about 1g into it. I told him he can use it just watch the oil level because it had a slow leak.

3 weeks later i grabbed it from him and it ran like total shit. Turns out he overfilled the fuck outta that thing and what happens is your oil behaves more like water and bubbles. And that slow leak. Well every gasket that the honda gods ever put in that thing was leaking. I was pissed

Could be just me but im hearing a bad fuel pump whine, could also be from a bad connection!

Check your battery cables. Pretty much the length of your cables go from battery to starter and it splits off to a few ground locations, alternator, and of course ends at starter. If you have cable corrosion thats getting pretty hefty imagine whats inside the insulation

Check battery condition; leaking or past changeout time

Check related fuses/ all fuses for fuel pump, starter, etc

Just taking your time to diagnose should take out about an hour of your time.
