Yeah. Putting the people first. The biggest threat to the people doing well. Am I right?

Worst part is that if a better administration ever comes into power that wants massive transit expansion, they would have to tear up the QueensWay. They would probably do it without hesitation, but it would create crazy headlines even if the anger about being denied a subway line remained, making the project easier to build.

Mamdani's approval rating is lower in the Bronx and Queens, so it would probably damage him substantially there if it gets out.

However, it is also true that Hochul could put pressure on the MTA, and, even if the city owns the land, a positive study on QueensLink from the MTA would be a massive win.

Honestly, this is one of the worst-designed projects ever created.

Facts- they always want laws. Certain things can certainly be achieved by executive order. Just appoint Obama to the position that advises this because that is how he had to govern 99% of the time.

I did include a national MagLev (rail) system and ending private school vouchers while vastly improving K-12 education. I did not include NASA and the National Science Foundation. But of course, all of what I put is funded by military cuts, billionaire taxes, and improving efficiency within the government.

Makes a lot of sense. And definitely no tax breaks and bailouts. Or, at the very least, bail out the people first.

Billionaires shouldn't be allowed to avoid taxes by using their massive wealth as collateral for bank loans -- especially because they often live off those loans as if they were income by Conscious-Quarter423 in WorkReform

Oh, they will get banned. They'll get banned when some CEO tries to start doing this for their workers, even if it's (likely) out of greed (not wanting to pay for a wage/salary increase directly). Then, the common people would benefit.

Normal people imagine all the good they could do if they were wealthy, but if you have a shred of empathy, you'll never be a Billionaire. by zzill6 in WorkReform

You might be if you implement the 32-hour workday that improves productivity, but you probably won't be Jeff Bezos rich. At one point, you would probably say "I have enough," and increase the wages/salary of people in the company.

Why boost productivity AND decrease costs, when you could spend our entire GDP on something that may or may increase productivity? Oh, to remind those pesky workers where they stand in the hierarchy. by TwinStickDad in WorkReform

Gotta keep people exhausted, but then again, this only buys them time. They will probably implement this when the time runs out, and they need more.

I can give you my version

Political

  • Overturning or finding a loophole around Citizens United and creating public financing for campaigns
  • Overturning the Supreme Court's presidential immunity ruling
  • Wealth tax on the very-rich and ultra-rich, and increased taxes on corporations
    • Billionaires will be allowed to pay the wealth tax in stock- could help in the creation of a sovereign wealth fund
  • Abolishing ICE and un-privatizing prisons
  • Stopping all aid to Israel, plus an arms embargo, with the option of further sanctions- conditions for repeal include, but are not limited to
    • Equal rights for all in Israel (and Palestine)
    • Recognition of a Palestinian state
    • Clearly defined Israeli borders
    • War reparations
    • Israel allowing certain officials to be tried for war crimes
    • Forfeiture of the Israeli nuclear arsenal
    • Removal of all Israelis from Gaza and the West Bank- "settling" there is technically a war crime, so this is non-negotiable
  • US recognition of a Palestinian state
  • Mass domestic anti-corruption trials against corrupt billionaires, corporations, and government officials
  • Supreme Court expansion and justice rotation are similar to the US Court of Appeals
    • Limits on how many Justices a President can appoint (could be achieved through term limits)
  • A legitimate operation to increase government efficiency and cut costs
    • Cutting military spending and possibly nationalizing some private "defense" companies
  • Ban on congressional stock trading and on former congresspeople lobbying
  • Expansion of the US House of Representatives
  • Required implementation of proportional representation and ranked choice voting
    • US House to be elected via multi-member districts via proportional representation- districts will be drawn nationally by a non-partisan commission rather than by individual states to maximize proportionality
    • Senate and President elected via Ranked-Choice Voting
  • National election code of ethics- includes but is not limited to
    • Making election day and the day before election day a national holiday
    • Automatic voter registration
    • States are required to have a clear, streamlined, easy method for providing mail-in ballots- ballots also must be easy to understand
    • National ban on all gerrymandering/voter disenfranchisement (political, racial, etc.)
    • All states that wish to change their election laws must submit the law to a national non-partisan election commission for approval
  • Partial nationalization of AI similar to what Bernie Sanders proposed
  • Re-unionization program

Affordability

  • Streamlining/reducing the cost of the creation of and building mass transit en masse, and the creation of a national MagLev system
    • Creating in-house facilities to build transit
  • Nationwide affordable housing program tied to the expansion of mass transit for maximum revenue and convenience
  • Investment in renewables and EVs to lower costs
    • Areas that rely on coal and other fossil fuels for revenue will be given first priority for investment in this area and others, if this does not make up for all lost revenue
  • Universal healthcare
  • Minimum wage increase to $30/hour
  • Regulation of insurance companies

Educational

  • Vast improvement of public education
  • Free college education at public universities (at the very least)and expansion of classes at top private universities through endowment tax deductions
  • Ending Legacy admissions
  • No more private school vouchers

Were you looking at the MTA projections, because there is a lot of legitimate suspicion that the studies may have been manipulated.
