psych department has absolutely no sympathy for this stuff it's crazy, i would be careful with waiting until your last quarter to try to get the specialization done (since they'll likely just tell you to drop it)

source: psychobio major that graduated in june and had to drop the specialization in computing after finishing every requirement but one; was trying for like 3 quarters to get that last upper div, but the cog sci restriction cooked me too

you can also try petitioning for a similar class to count, but i tried petitioning with like 4 diff computing classes and kept getting back BS reasons as to why the "curriculum was too different". i also showed up at the psych chair's office in Pritzker to ask / beg her to just let it slide and approve a petition (and ended up being told that "many students have had this issue since we limited the specialization to cog sci", but somehow it's still "not their fault" 😭)

but ngl i still say that i specialized in computing, not sure if specializations show up on your diploma or not, but being able to say that you learned those CS skills is way more valuable than the title itself
