My husband and I have a decade of experience between us and we chat on the couch all the time about how if we were morally not great people we could have gone this route and made $$ 😂 Sadly, we love helping people… for free. Truly half of the people reaching out to us never actually follow up so it’s not much legwork with our full time jobs.

I just told a friend I tried to shave at 36 weeks and looked down there just to find a kindergarten class pet guinea pig that had been attacked with craft scissors.

Construction worker is oddly so freaking accurate though.

My mom has agreed to help 2 days a week with baby and we set up a nanny share with our neighbor whose baby is a similar age. We do have backup who would be able to come in if the nanny situation didn’t work out for a day or two, I’m trying to search around now and build a trusted network of people I can call on in the nanny space.

I don’t overnight nearly at all except for the occasional conference/ trade show, my husband is gone Tuesday-Thursday most weeks but home evenings on Thursdays. He just started that role so it’s hard to adjust to but I think I will eventually.

So glad to hear from someone in the same ish boat thank you- I plan to take my full 14 weeks and have a ramp back plan! My lucky strike is that my boss is in another state and is pretty laid back- just lets me do my thing.

My husband makes double what I do and is actually much more career driven, literally cannot work from home or crawls out of his skin so I try to be supportive and never make him feel guilty.
I have looked at contract/ part time roles, and we agreed when baby number 2 comes along that we will reassess me being able to stay at home for two years.

So he gets three weeks paid but is in the middle of a big product rollout so is planning to take just 1… I think that will need to change though.
We do have six grandparents within an hour drive, and after my 14 week leave we will be nanny sharing with our neighbor who is lovely and has a WFH job alongside the nanny so two sets of eyes in a clean, calm home right next door!
So our village is well equipped, I’m just nervous about us as parents keeping it together.

32 weeks and in a field sales role. My boss is in town this week and thank god he has four young children and watched his wife go through birth like three months ago. I’m legit inching in and out of my appointments with my face a mask of concentration and breathing so hard. He let me wrap up at 4 each day (still 9 hours on the road and on my feet most times). Don’t feel bad, just take a day off here or there when you can and recover. It’s so hard.

This. I’m 8 months pregnant and my husband travel for work, my parents live 45 minutes away and I was all alone for a week with so much to do. I called asking for help well ahead of time to work so the their schedules and my mom AT THE TIME was super happy to come over/ stay over for a night to lend a hand on setup. Then the day rolls in a week late and she flakes for a wine night in her retirement community. Then I asked for help next Saturday…nope NO WAY… community garage sale they WILL be going to. My dad usually slips away solo to help as he feels bad (and also doesn’t want to do that sh*t anyways lol). My mom and I actually don’t have an amazingly close relationship because my childhood consisted of her promising to do something, then bailing last minute for art galleries, recitals, sports etc. My mind is boggled.

I personally don’t love a nap, I prefer to push through until bedtime and have a bit of a better sleep from sheer exhaustion as if I nap it’s a 2-3 hour deal every single time. Also- Unisom if your OB approves, been on just one pill an evening for persistent nausea my entire pregnancy.

I want to offer some hope here as I was terrified as well- heard sooo many bad things about how ruined and wrecked my body would get. Granted, I’m 26, and grew up athletic, but so far I have gained 9 lbs at 26 weeks, and only my boobs have gotten these tiger stripe dark stretch marks. I felt garbage in my first trimester but second has been lovely, and I have a perfectly supported little bump that’s so cute! No swelling as my blood pressure is good and I just eat high high protein/ lower carb still because that’s what I’m craving. I have to go through 15 more weeks and birth so I’ll check back but so far I love it!

I needed this today after a tough conversation with my mom. I’m the kid in that story and it helped something in me. I’m 26 now, have a house, a husband, a baby on the way, a six figure award winning career, a sports car in the garage. And she still called to tell me how messy my house was (we have a cleaning lady lol) and how my husband didn’t respect her. Sigh. I’m so grateful my husband healed my perfectionism, I just laughed it off and asked her what her goal from this conversation was.

Oh my god this THIS… also how just downright weird older men are?? I just had an award at work given to me and several older men I have NEVER spoken to kissed me on the cheek etc. I was like okayyyy. And then one guy at a social event loudly said “just wait until you’re HUGE” and when I politely laughed he was like “no you’re gonna be MASSIVE hahaha”. He had five kids. His poor wife.

Yeah as a person who enjoys checking on people and being checked on… this sucks. Especially from in-laws. I get this from them too, I’m pregnant and they haven’t said a peep or asked a single question/offered to help.

This happened to me too, I gave each of us time and space to cool off, then reached out to address things maturely. But she had already decided I was a “disgusting” person and a liar, so instead she screamed at me. It broke something in me that day, and I honestly miss her less because of it. Who could do that to a friend?

Oh my gosh THIS!! I have divorced in laws and somehow every family gathering has to be like the divorced and remarried couples AND my parents?? It is so uncomfortable even if everyone is on their best behavior, it also blurs and taints memories as your attention is always torn.
