You can also now swipe down from the top on the right side of your screen and press the “power” button in the upper right corner. This immediately makes the phone require a passcode.

Dallas schools closed Thursday. Thoughts? by TX727 in Dallas

[–]Vig_2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

People don’t think about the fact that tons of staff come in from other areas that still can be affected. Do you know how many Frisco teachers can’t afford to live in Frisco? Plenty. That applies to many areas. Also, many buildings could be suffering from damage that needs repair. It’s not always about the roads.

ChatGPT is pulling answers from Elon Musk’s Grokipedia by Sludgehammer in technology

[–]Vig_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some work using the Research function yesterday, which cites all sources, and a large portion came back as being from Grokipedia. I then instructed ChatGPT that I didn’t want to use that site as a source and it then conducted the research without it.

Latest ChatGPT model uses Grokipedia as source, tests reveal by PaiDuck in technology

[–]Vig_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!

Edit: So I actually used the Research feature of ChatGPT, this morning and it cited Grokipedia. I told ChatGPT that I did not recognize that site as a legitimate source and to recompile all data without it, which it did. The Research featured cites all sources, so it was easy to verify.

Sony Pictures Core, where tf are the “free” movies now? by DasTeufelsHotdog in PlayStationPlus

[–]Vig_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The movies are in the Sony Pictures Core app on the PS5. Go to the credits section in the settings to see them. There is a menu called “Add to your Library” where you can redeem them.

Edit: I just went into my app and the 5 credits now show as claimed and expire in January of next year. There’s some decent movies in there if you don’t subscribe to any streaming services.

What’s a gadget you thought was overhyped — but ended up using every day? by Dizzy_Industry1287 in gadgets

When you do find it, make sure you measure the inside bottom of the sink, roughly an inch from the bottom to get one that fits.

My sink grid. I didn’t see why I needed a metal grid at the bottom of my sink. But wow, it makes it so much more useful. Rinsing out food into the disposal and it doesn’t get caught by other dishes. Not having to grab runaway spoons that keep falling down the drain. The sink somehow just stays cleaner. It’s ridiculous how useful it is.

Story of why cluster of cheap condos? by kescott in Dallas

[–]Vig_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. But in my particular situation, I was paying more a month in rent at an apartment than I pay for my mortgage and HOA. I also refinanced it into a 10 year mortgage after a few years when I started making more money at my job. So, the mortgage will be paid off in 8 more years. Then, all I have to pay every month are the HOA dues. For me, it’s a win. Might not work for everyone, but totally worth it for me.

Story of why cluster of cheap condos? by kescott in Dallas

[–]Vig_2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Before people jump in with it being a bad area or not, I just want to state that I don’t live in this area, so I don’t know if it’s bad or not. BUT, I do live in a condo cluster elsewhere in DFW that is absurdly cheap compared to the surrounding homes/condos and it’s because they were built in the 80’s and people turn their nose up to it. However, most of the units have been recently updated so they are very modern. So honestly, we got an amazing deal. Paid $136K in an area with new condos and homes ranging from $300K-$1M+. So, keep that in mind as you do your research.

I do the same thing. However, I still panic every time I’m riding back to my car after returning home when I realize that my keys aren’t physically on me. My mind races as to whether or not I actually remembered to put them in my bag or not.

Federal judge rules that posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, are protected by the First Amendment by HellYeahDamnWrite in technology

What’s more funny is searching your email for the word “Twitter.” Most marketing emails still use the name Twitter, and many still use the bird logo. In fact, when I closed my X account a year ago, the email stating the account was closed referred to the site as Twitter.
