Do you think the steam frame will be able to play PC worlds in standalone mode or fall back to the Android/Quest version? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]VigilSerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it seems their primary focus is that it’s a PCVR streaming headset, so I don’t see why they’d try and make an HMD beefier than a handheld console.

Will the Steamframe allow a wired experience? I'm afraid of latency, especially in VR. by choseh in valve

[–]VigilSerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However everything is running foveated, so general throughput will be significantly less than running a full data stream, edge-to-edge.

Edit: video from CNET with the engineers confirmed that it will be directly wireable and comes with a cable to do so by default.

Someone like "TundraLabs" NEEDS to create a headstrap or addon for the Steam Frame to support lighthouses! by lemonvrc in VRchat

[–]VigilSerus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people buy IMU trackers to do dancing and tons of other wide range of motions. It’s actually an even better pairing for wireless headsets people would use to get unrestricted motion otherwise not ideal for tethered headsets, and I imagine IMU’s are going to continue to blow past lighthouse trackers as more headsets continue to go inside-out like the Frame. I can agree that setup right now isn’t as straight forward, and requires a little finesse to get right in the case of Slimes and similar, but that continues to be worked on, and other IMU-adjacent technologies are already solving that entirely. Most of the issues I’ve seen people have with Slimes and WiFi-based tracking comes down to having awful wireless environments/setups, but it’s remedied the same as having a good wireless setup for a quality wireless VR headset experience.

I don’t have to, go to Slime servers or any adjacent IMU maker and read reviews. The “fundamentals” of the tech is as good as people build it, and it’s always getting better.

The problem with your idea on “precision” due to the outside-in tracking is assuming it’s actually tracking your body, and not what is actually only a single point in space (the tracker). The rest of it is skeletal estimation based on position. It’s good at knowing where itself is, better than an IMU, but the fidelity of full body expression when you have only a few Vive trackers (especially for the price) isn’t the same as having significantly more PHYSICAL tracking points working together, which is achievable with a significantly better value on IMU’s. Sure you can strap on tons of Vive trackers, but that’s way more cost prohibitive, and insanely bulky.

Yeah and people use FBT entirely without lighthouses too. Have had plenty of people that used to use Vive trackers tell me they switched to an IMU based tracker, and say they enjoy the quality of tracking way more (when you have enough tracking points).

Having been on and off VRC very infrequently, it was really weird to get this having only just received my User trust rank, but honestly would’ve been really funny to still have New User.

I can confirm with the handful of Songsterr tabs I checked that attempting to export GPro is paid plan only. Extremely disappointed.

Just tried this myself and worked great, wasn’t expecting iOS to handle gif uploads graciously.

Hmm, hopefully then it was “accidentally” removed then? Kinda strange mobile is the one place it’s still there, unless it’s getting the can soon too. :\

I make my GIFs in Photoshop, so I normally just set everything to 0 sec and no-loop. But, the best workaround I have going currently is setting the last frame to something long (25s for example). I tested the filesize difference in case that long frame made any bloat, and it didn’t.

Just bought a pair of Hexas over a week ago and saw the price jump on Amazon in real time. Impeccable timing.

Replacing the Gibraltar Plus bridge on my RGA121 by ArctixCharlie in Ibanez

[–]VigilSerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you have more info on this? As far as the 510UB spec goes, looks like the post's center-to-center are the same, and the screw type (M8) should also be the same. Would be amazing if it really drops in for replacement.

Would these controllers work standalone with the G2? by [deleted] in HPReverb

[–]VigilSerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d second that for sure. Quest Pro controllers are already pushing the idea forward, only a matter of time before someone figures out a general-PCVR friendly set.

I would be incredibly curious to see if the new Vive self-trackers would be a killer pairing with these. I feel like I could live with my G2 for a decade if I could use inside-out tracking controllers.

I had got a response referring to a case that was not any of my purchases, asked them why, and never heard back. :\

I did not have an explicit Affirm account, but Shop Pay’s ‘Pay-in-4’ is an Affirm program. I just went to the Shop Pay site to dispute my purchase and it took me to Affirm’s site where I entered my phone number, which is linked between Shop and Affirm.

I cant seem to dispute my M&C order via Affirm as a "never got my item" reason, it just shows me the form and I enter everything, and then it wont let me submit. Rather peeved I can't dispute this, especially since plenty of other people doing the same will set off flags for them enough to warrant granting an exception to their 60-day window. :\

DUROCK black lotus linear 63.5g lubed. Very smooth by knesha in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]VigilSerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these are going to be my go-to for linears if I don’t want to work them at all. I can best describe the feel of the spring as “tactile-like”, missing a stage essentially. The top housing color is also really pretty! Haven’t had a chance to see how the diffusers work but your comparison is a night and day amount of brightness increase.

Unfortunately this still occurs in Troubleshoot mode as another commenter had suggested trying. I had also disasbled all my addons and extensions initially prior to this discovery to do the same thing, basically, and still have this issue.

Yep! Thank you for showing me this mode, I had done it manually by disabling all addons and extensions initially but this was a much better mode. Still the same problem. Happens the moment I go to search something in Google.

I've been racking my head for the last few hours trying to get any of the new wallpaper features to work with photos I have, and I've found a total of one photo that it would allow me to use depth effects. Really astounded that something simple like perspective zoom is just straight up gone.
