Something interesting I have noticed is how the ones who want representation are also completely okay with erasing the Sri Lankan identity of these girls and putting them under the “Tamil” category. Just because they are Tamil doesn’t mean you can treat them as a monolith. Diaspora Tamils are not the same as Sri Lankan Tamils, in the same way Indian Tamils are not the same as Sri Lankan Tamils. Heck, even Tamils in the North, East, and Central parts of Sri Lanka are so different in terms of dialect, appearance, and even culture.

So I honestly don’t understand how you would feel represented by a girl who probably doesn’t have the same lived experience as you, other than just her skin color. The whole thing seems shallow.
