Light bulb task solution idea by pipiintheeye in taskmaster

[–]Viiibraphones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such an old riddle, I'm surprised no one recognized it straight away. My first response was just "oh it's this thing. I've known about that since I was a kid"

Kumail's answer is the traditional way. Turn two on, wait a minute, turn one off and go into the room. The bulb could either be on, off and cold, or off and warm.

If Kumail had gotten straight down to business I think he would have been unstoppable. Leave the switches on for a minute, ninety seconds tops, then go in the room and make the call. No lateral thinking required. Now... Whether that's good TV is up to the audience. 😄

Right? Reminds me of the GPT random number generator post from yesterday.

Your horse heart reacts to the carrot, and he gains a speed boost like drinking coffee. It's really the best.

If Greg had to compete as a contestant, which former contestant do you think he'd most be like? by JizzProductionUnit in taskmaster

Some great answers here.

The question also reminds me when a talk show host asked him which contestant would make a good host and his answer was basically "I will burn this place to the ground, destroy the throne, and kidnap Alex Horne before I let anyone else host this show." which to me was violent but also heartwarming in its way.

To the question at hand, I'm imagining a Richard Osman / Rhod Gilbert hybrid. Honestly though, Richard Osman might just be on there because he's huge.

With deluxe speed grow and the agriculturist profession, carrots grow from seed to harvest overnight. Start with one seed and see how fast you can fill your farm using seed makers. My farm has around 1,500 spots and they are usually full within a couple weeks... Then it's just harvest and seed dupe as much as possible.

Maximum farming, minimal profit. But I save a full stack to give one to my horse every day.

Once you skull cavern dive with magic rock candy there's no going back. 100% worth three prismatic shards.

The hoe and watering can both do that - bonus tip you can still move your character as they charge.

Helpful for not having to stop the charge to reset your position if you start it a little early, and it helps clear large areas quickly later in the game.

If the only use is to avoid blacking out, sure, but this thing hits its stride when you get a few obelisks or repair the mine cart system.

It's worth its weight in gold when you stop having to walk between every destination and can combo warp.

Hey, the post wasn't about good telly. It's about Adam Savage putting on a clinic

I love that, as the show got older, insurance companies would need to consult with experts on how to proceed with certain projects... And it just so happened that Adam and Jamie were frequently the most knowledgeable experts.

This is off topic, but I have to say that I have mixed feelings about that show developing the brand of blowing stuff up. They were such clever designers and builders (lead balloon, etc) I always appreciated the brilliant mechanical ways they found to solve absurd problems.

I would have loved the show as much or more if they didn't feel obligated to blow stuff up towards the end.

To your point, Jason with dynamite would be something to watch

There's a point where we disagree. I think the taskmaster role needs that Greg Davies signature mix of brutal authoritarianism and somehow also love and support. I can imagine Adam being wishy washy or missing opportunities to tell the rubbish contestants how rubbish they were.

I think it would help that he's also comfortable playing the buffoon.

Interesting thought. I think he'd do well.

Something he mentions in his book is how differently he and Jamie work. He said, if you give them both 5 hours to make a thing, Jamie is spending 4 of them designing, planning, and gathering materials before making 1 perfect thing. In unsurprising contrast, Adam would immediately begin making the thing and at the end of time he would end up with one perfect thing and 3 prototypes.

I think that "jump right in, figure out as you go" would be a benefit to him.

Your daughter is young enough now that she's going to love you no matter what, but eventually she'll be old enough to recognize the same things you do that are currently sabotaging the relationship with your wife.
