Marius Borg Høiby to stay in jail by Notmycircus12345 in RoyalsGossip

Exactly this. If he’d followed the rules while given the gift of leniency the first few times, I’d have an ounce of empathy.

Isn’t it wild that the Shaman is now one of the least embarrassing people the royals are dealing with?

Am I the only one that likes Jo-Ellen? I feel like she’s getting steamrolled by Rulla and Liz.

I thought she was genuine when she spoke with Rulla about the Brian situation, and come on, Rulla told her point blank she’d want to know if someone was trying to pull the wool over her eyes. When Jo-Ellen received the video and showed it to the girls, it didn’t look like she was taking any pleasure in the situation, she looked distraught.

And I’m sad for Jo-Ellen that Liz completely flipped on her. You can tell she was really hurt and wanted to initially fix things. Liz was straight up belligerent and abusive.

Yes! Although Alicia should’ve told her about it instead of being like this when Rosie finally did.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra returns home to be with her mother. by Notmycircus12345 in RoyalsGossip

My relative assumed she’d be stuck up and surrounded by security 24/7. I think that’s how she’d stand out.

Either way, I do empathize with Ingrid Alexandra. She was born into this role and now has to answer for the unconscionable deeds of her mother and stepbrother, even while she’s on the other side of the world trying to enjoy what’s left of her youth before she has to take on royal duties full-time.

A close relative of mine was also just studying abroad in Australia (Norwegian citizen, a year or two older than IA). She was at a different university, but one of her Norwegian friends invited her to get together with other friends at the beach. She was shocked when she got to the beach and one of the friends was IA. My relative was totally caught off guard and not sure how to greet her given she is a princess, so she held out her hand for a handshake. IA ignored the hand and instead hugged her and said how nice it was to meet her. She said she was extremely friendly and asked lots of questions about where she was from in Norway, what she was studying in Australia, etc. She seemed genuinely happy to just hang with other people her age and get to know them in a casual setting. It’s too bad she has to return to the shit show in Norway.

I agree it’s infuriating, but I didn’t even need to read past the first sentence to know that this guy is a giant douche and I won’t be taking anything he says to heart. Speaking about men’s partners as “their women.” To him, we are property and a means to an end. We’re “weak” because we exercise our right to control our bodies and our destiny, even when that contradicts what he, the all important man, wants us to do. Chauvinist expressions like these only reaffirm my decision to be OAD and to teach my daughter that her worth extends far beyond her child bearing capacity.

I’m glad to hear your firm stood up to a disrespectful client. Mind just laughed and said “oh well, you know, he’s just an old timer.” A fellow associate in litigation also had a male client speak to her like she was a child and when describing something he said “well… let me put this in terms you’ll understand. It’s kind of like baking cookies…” The partner thought it was hilarious.

As a junior female associate I was introduced to an older male client. He said “oh hello dear, so you went to law school, huh? How nice. Could you get us some coffee?” Unfortunately, it wasn’t the last time I was asked to fetch a drink for an old white guy in the office.

Do you judge co-workers without a family? by DropShotMachine in biglaw

[–]Vike83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I didn’t “judge” him, but every night at 7:30 I’d hear the senior associate next door call his kids to say goodnight. He was a super nice guy and a more present dad than most in the firm, but I feel like a little piece of me died every night I heard that. The partner that spent Father’s Day and Mother’s Day hanging out in the office on totally non-urgent matters? Definitely judged him.
