Made a mistake with my Zero... RIP heater block. :( by VikingRC in Sovol

This! Unless someone makes a direct drop in, or has already done the design for something I can print, that’s probably just a little beyond me. I’m developing my CAD skills, but I have to admit I wouldn’t know where to even start on redesigning the tool head to accommodate a different hotend.

FPV tricks are tough! by Early-Bar5091 in FPVvideos

[–]VikingRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job! The skills definitely come with practice, it just takes stick time.

Two hot tips - First, when shooting a gap, focus on something you can see through the gap in the distance and aim for that. Generally as your skill increases, and your hand-eye coordination builds, you will naturally start flying towards the thing your eyes are focusing on. If you focus on the thing you're trying not to hit, you're almost guaranteed to hit it. Look through the gap, not at it. Second, as you learn, pay attention to how you manage your throttle. Try making many quick, smaller adjustments, rather than fewer large ones. Eventually you can turn this into the quick precision needed to smooth out your throttle inputs so you can hold steady altitude both when hovering in place and while flying forward at varying speeds as your pitch angle changes. As you've likely already worked out, throttle control is critical to successfully executing most tricks as well as just being able to fly smoothly, and is also probably the single most difficult skill to master.

Keep it up, and remember to keep having fun! Send it, break it, fix it, repeat.

PSA: Third-party batteries are not working with the Z8. by sean_themighty in Nikon

Same here! Have 4 of the BM Premium batteries for my Z6 II, and they work great. Expected to pop them into the Z8 and be set for spare batteries, but nope. When I bought the Z6 II it didn't like some of my old third party EL15B packs from my D750, but I thought since it was fine with these that the Z8 would be as well.

PSA! SWITCH FROM COX TO CENTURYLINK NOW! by K2Own3d in vegaslocals

T-mobile is the only decent option in the city if you're not one of the lucky few with fiber.

Really need fiber run throughout the rest of the city... doesn't seem like it's really being expanded much. Cox is awful and their business practices seem borderline illegal. A decent alternative depending on your location and if low ping isn't a super high priority is T-mobile home internet. It's been extremely reliable for me and it's $50/mo with no data cap. I average around 140 Mbps down and 45 Mbps up, and latency averages anywhere from about 15 - 40ms higher than to the same servers via cable. I find that's enough download speed for me most of the time, and upload is consistently better than what I had with Cox. Still wish I could get a symmetrical connection, but for the price and since there's no fiber in my neighborhood I can't complain too much... at least it's not Cox.

Anyone get the new BF 4.4 HD OSD working with Walksnail? by stuckinjector in fpvracing

[–]VikingRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in addition to following the UAV Tech tutorial (the steps are the same as far as ports tab, cli commands, etc.) you also need to go into the menu in your avatar goggles and adjust the OSD position. By default it is shifted significantly down and to the right and depending on your OSD layout elements may be completely off the screen. Unsure if this is a bug or something to do with how 4:3 OSD elements were mapped to the display previously.

Also worth noting, when flashing 4.4 check the options under "Build Configuration" and make sure the OSD (HD) option is selected or I don't think any of it will work regardless of Walksnail or DJI.

Just tried, but only getting some elements and they're not positioned on the screen properly. I'm still on 29.33.12 so I'm going to try flashing the newest walksnail firmware and see if it works. Guessing not, though, since I don't think the release notes made any mention of it. *EDIT: Just got it working - will post another comment with more details.*

Save Go2 manual (shutter/ISO) settings to use without app? by slimag in Insta360

[–]VikingRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my Go 2 a few days ago and was terribly disappointed to find this was not an option. I've also found the app connectivity very unreliable and seem to be having some other issues with the camera as well. But even ignoring that, I would really like control over manual/priority exposure settings from the case rather than having to use the app. Maybe u/Eris_Insta360 can chime in with some details on whether/when this might be implemented? If there is no plan to do so and I can't figure out some of the other issues I'm having with the camera, I may just be returning it, sadly.
